Thankful

It is close to Thanksgiving.  It is hard to believe.  We are about to embark on the holiday season and all that it brings with it.  On Facebook, so many people are posting what it is that they are thankful for.  It seems cliché, yes.  However, it is apropos.  So, I would like for you to take part in this ritual.
For your post this week, please make a list of the following things you are thankful for:
BeThankfulCarvedPumpkinWhite1. A person and why.
2. A material possession and why?
3. A place and why?
4. A piece of advice and why?
5. A moment of learning and why?

I will go first:
1. I am thankful for my two daughters.  They remind me everyday of the person I want to be, should be, and the person I will be.
2. I am thankful for my iPad.  I love having reading material forever at my fingertips.
3. I am thankful for my home.  It is a place built with my husband, for our daughters and our new puppy.  It is a safe haven, a place where sweatpants and a hoodie are always acceptable.
4. I am thankful for the advice my dad gave me when I was younger.  He always told me that when you go into a fight never take something you wouldn't want used on you.  It is appropriate in so many ways.  I think about this when I engage in debates, when I face adversity and when I need to remember my human side.
5. I am thankful for learning how to cook.  I worked in a kitchen with a woman named Bev who taught me so much about working with food and flavors.  She taught me to not be afraid and to try any recipe that I wanted.  I love to experiment with food and new recipes thanks to working in
restaurants during college.

1) I am thankful for my brother. He is a very loving and caring person who is always there to cheer me up when I am upset.
2) I am thankful for my cell phone. It allows me to keep in touch with those that I do not get to see as often.
3) I am thankful for my home. I have had so many memories here with my family. It is a place where I can just completely be myself.
4) I am thankful for the advice my mom gives me. She gives me advice on my current life, my future, and so much more. She has taught me to not dwell on the little things in life and to do my best in order to succeed.
5) I am thankful for learning how to bake. I enjoy making desserts for my family, friends, and for church dinners (less unfortunate). My grandma and aunt have always made cookies, pies, cakes, etc. with me and I have learned the skills in order to create them myself. When I’m baking I just enjoy the moment and go back to my childhood.

1. I am thankful for my family as a whole, they help me through a variety of things and help guide me through my choices
2. I am thankful for my car, with out it, i would not be able to do the things I love so much like getting to rugby, or even not having to sit on the bus anymore
3. I am thankful for my home, obviously, with out it, I would have nothing but I am thankful for it's location more because if I lived somewhere else, I would be a completely different person from who I am today
4. I am thankful for the advice that my late grandma told me, "Never take things for granted, always treat what and who you have as if you will never see those again." I am thankful for this because it is true, always be appreciative of the things you have
5. I am thankful for learning everything I have been taught, from my first steps to the introduction of circular motion I learned earlier to day. This knowledge I have learned and will learn will help me in my later years and will hopefully get me to choose the right choices from the wrong.

1) I am thankful for my father. He inspires me everyday to go out and try to change the world and better myself.
2) I am thankful for my laptop because it has all my photos that I've taken throughout many years and they're very valuable to me.
3)I am thankful for my home because it's a safe place where me and my family are together and have a good time.
4)I am thankful for the advice that my 6th grade language arts teacher gave to me back when I was in her class. She would tell me to never give up and she always saw potential in me even when I couldn't see it myself. She also showed me how much I loved writing and expressing my thoughts.
5) I am thankful for learning about life. I think it's important to know what you want to do in the future and how to pursue it. Everything people talk about life is always negative, they never realize the positives that life has to offer and I think me learning that as an individual opened my eyes to a lot of opportunities.

1.I am thankful for my sister Tricia. Although we tend to fight, although what siblings don't, she has really taught me how to become successful and that hard work will always pay off.
2.I am for my iPhone. Just like any teen I tend to be on my phone 24/7. But I do not just use it for texting and tweeting. Yes it allows me to keep in touch with family and friends, but it has come in handy multiple times when needed to know a certain fact, just type it into safari, and there you have it your answer.

Although he is not still with me today I can still hear him saying to me, "No matter the struggles you face throughout your day, keep your chin up and don't let your enemies they are getting to you. Put a smile on that face it's the best way to get revenge.
5.I am thankful for learning how to be a respectable person and to put others before myself. Ever since I was young I was always taught to take care of other and always lend out a helping hand. Although I may not be the most "perfect" person out there, I still try my best to help others whenever I see it fit.

3. I am thankful for my house. My home is a place that I can truly call home; I am not judged and can walk around without any makeup and not feel ashamed for my poor appearance.
4. I am thankful for the advice that my mom has given me. She has always told me to treat others the way you want to be treated, knowing this I speak nicer to others and think before I react to a situation.
5. I am thankful for learning how to take care of others. I feel proud of myself when I am able to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Knowing how to care for them and make them feel better is the least I can do, buying expensive things doesn’t matter in times of need and I’m glad that my family has taught me to care for others.

1. I am thankful for my best friend Sara. We have been friends since 9th grade and she has always been there for me. She is one of the funniest and craziest people I know. She always knows how to make me laugh or smile, and I know I can trust her with anything.

3. I am thankful for my church. I have made many lasting relationships here, and it is a place I would consider my second home. It is a place to express my love for God to others, and a place where I feel like I can be myself. Because of my church, my relationship with God has grown tremendously.
4. I am thankful for this piece of advice that I first heard from my band director, Mr. Wardeska. He would always tell us that practice doesn't make perfect; only perfect practice makes perfect. This taught me that if I want something to be done well, then I would have to work as hard as I could and put in all of my effort if I want a good outcome.
5. I am thankful for learning how to play the violin back in 5th grade. This was my "gateway" instrument, which I believe led me to having the love for music that I have today, and I don't know what I would be doing with my life without it.

I am thankful for my phone. Sure, I spend a lot of time texting and tweeting, but it allows me to stay in contact with family and friends who I don't get to see on a daily basis.
I'm thankful for my home. I see and hear about all these families who can't afford anything and are struggling to provide basic needs to there family. I know I take it for granted, but I'm so thankful to have a roof above my head.
I am thankful for the advice my uncle has given my cousins and I. He told us that to work hard and have fun. The advice is to work hard at your job, yet do something you love. Enjoy the life and be happy so you won't look back and regret.
I am thankful for learning more advanced skills in cheer. To me, that sport is what I go to to release my stress, its my second home and I'm thankful for my coaches who continually teach me more and more.

I'm thankful for my dad. For every butt-whuppin (Verbal and not-so-verbal) I had to get to understand how the path to manhood really works, for the lessons buried in simple drives down to the store, for the stupid laughs and the quiet reassurance that it'll get better, not because the world works that way, but if you work at it.
I'm thankful for my telescope. Almost every night the past two weeks I've gone out and stared at Comet ISON as it moves across the sky, and for years I've stared down a little plastic tube to planets and stars and constellations and the moon when it lit up the sky. I'm thankful for the humility that comes from it, from knowing my place in the cosmos.
I'm thankful for my couch, where I can have my arm fall asleep just about the same time that she does, so I don't dare wake her up and can watch her instead of the dinky indy film she wanted to watch.
I'm thankful for the advice of my father, to find a girl that's smarter than me and to just listen to her, so that i'd never be bored.
I'm thankful for the moment of learning where I understood that all the atoms in the universe past the first three were forged in stars over the last 13.72 billion years, that each speck of Carbon, of Nitrogen, Iron, Cobalt or Strontium were wrought in stellar furnaces by Nuclear Fusion. I'm thankful to have learned this because, like the telescope, it reduces the hubris of a human to know they have such commonality with everything around them. Or, as Neil Degrasse Tyson says, "We are part of this universe, we are in this universe...the universe is in us. We are all connected; to each other, biologically, to the earth, chemically, to the rest of the universe atomically."

I am thankful for my girlfriend because she is there whenever I need her and she helps me with day to day struggles that life brings me. She is the one that I know has my back, will be there for me when I need someone to talk to and loves and cares for me like no one before. She puts the biggest smile on my face and makes my day ten times better just by seeing her. I am thankful for my bed because that’s the place I go to that releases my stress and it’s where I can go to sleep. A place would be home because without home I would not be where I am today. Home makes me feel comfortable and it’s where I feel just right. A piece of advice I’m thankful for would be from my mom and she said always take life one day at a time. I’m thankful for this because to this day I still use that advice and apply it to my life now. A moment of learning I’m thankful for is when my dad taught me how to play baseball. I’m thankful for this because it taught me so much responsibility, leadership and I would love to teach my kids how to play when I’m older.
