Movie Quotes to Live by

"They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions...but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience." Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird. Spoken by Atticus

I love this quote from the movie. Before I read the book, I would watch the movie with my mother. Gregory Peck brought Atticus to life like no other could. I remember many quotes from the movie, but this is one of my favorites. Another favorite is found below:

"First of all," he said, "if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view[...] until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." (3.85-87).

Both of these ask me to reflect on who I am as a person. I am forced to think about who I am as a mother, teacher, and as me. I often times will hear people make rash judgements about others and chalk things up to circumstances they cannot understand. I just shake my head. Yes, I have been guilty of quick judgments, stereotyping, and a moment of thought without empathy. But, I have come to learn that the world is the world and people no matter how many times you scream at them are people. I have learned to focus on myself and my family and to not allow my eyes to be critical of others. I try to accept people for who they are, scars and all. Don't get me wrong, it is hard to do this. But I try nevertheless.

Think about a movie quote that has struck a chord in you. One that has stopped you in your tracks and made you think about the type of person you are, the world we live in, or in some other big idea way.

Type out the movie quote and explain how it impacts your thinking.

Akeelah: [quoting Marianne Williamson] ''Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.''
Ths quote reminds me of the time my uncle, who passed away last June,in 2009, told me never to be afraid of myself.I watched this movie with him back in 7th grade, and he told me,''One day you will be in a spelling bee just like Akeelah.''That set me to thinking. The next year, I did happen to be in a apelling bee, but sadly, my uncle was not able to be there. There is so much insecurity in our world, and we take no time to listen to each other. That is what this quote says to me...listen.

"Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgment that something is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever but the cautious do not live at all." ~ Eduard Christoff Philippe GÈrard Renaldi, Prince of Genovia (Rene Auberjonois) in "The Princess Diaries" (2001)

I watched this movie in class towards the end of the year in 8th grade. Despite the title, it is not a girls movie. Anyone familiar with the story recognizes it for what it truly is. This quote made me think about what courage really is. Rather then thinking that fictional characters like superman or Batman were the brave ones, I could see that the little boy who stands up to the bully who picked on another kid was the one who was brave. The boy doesn't do it because he knows he'll win, in fact he knows he won't. He does it because he knows it is the right thing to do. The quote makes a person think of the true bravery we see many times each day, just one more person challenging their fear or the fear of others because they know that what they have to do is more important than they're fear.

All my life, man and boy, I've operated under the assumption that the main idea in running was to win the race. Naturally, when I became a coach I tried to teach people how to do that. Tried to teach Pre how to do that. Tried like heck to teach Pre to do that. And Pre taught me. Taught me I was wrong. Pre, you see, was troubled by knowing that a mediocre effort can win a race and a magnificent effort can lose one. Winning a race wouldn't necessarily demand that he give it everything he had from start to finish. He never ran any other way. I tried to get him to, God knows I tried... but... Pre was stubborn. He insisted on holding himself to a higher standard than victory. 'A race is a work of art'; that's what he said, that's what he believed and he was out to make it one every step of the way.
Without Limits(1999)
this is from the movie Without Limits and it really inspires me. Everytime I watch this movie it drives me not only to give my best when I'm running but to give nothing but my best at everything I do. If your going to give 80% then you should not waste your time even doing it. This movie reminds me of that and especially this quote from the movie.

"Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can choose to do what's right."

--Spider-man 3

I saw this movie when it came out, and later on when I owned the movie, I decided to watch it. At the time I was going through something that reminded me of what Spider-man was going through (in a sense) and when I heard this quote I realized that I could turn things around and do the right thing. This quote inspired me to explore my options before I make big mistakes, and to know that no matter what, I have a choice.

Mr. Strickland: "I noticed your band is on the roster for the dance auditions after school today. Why even bother, McFly? You don't have a chance, you're too much like your old man. No McFly ever amounted to anything in the history of Hill Valley!"
Marty McFly: "Yeah, well, history is gonna change."
~Back to the Future: Part 1~

Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time, and this part of the movie (although it's very short) is one of the best. Mr. Strickland is telling Marty that he can't succeed at his dreams, because no one in his family before him as reached their dreams. Mr. Strickland is saying that history says you are going to fail, and Marty says "Yeah, well, history is gonna change." He says that his future isn't defined by what anyone else has done. He stands up and says I AM going to succeed. And I think that there is a Mr. Strickland inside all of us, telling us that we can't follow our dreams because of where we come from, or who came before us, or we're just not good enough. But we have to try our best to be like Marty and tell our Mr. Strickland that we WILL succeed. I strive to do this everyday. I keep going at something until it is my best. I will always follow my dreams, fighting through anything that stands in my way, letting nothing determion my future...but me.

"You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Period."

-Chris Garner, The Puruit of Happiness (2006)

This quote reminds me how important it is to have dreams, and to never let them go. The only dreams worth reaching are the ones you have to work for, the ones you have to hold on to, no matter how hard it is, no matter how much you want to let go. Letting go is the easy way out. When somebody says you can't do something, there are two options in life. One, you can quit, and give the wold that satisfacion. Or two, you can look past everyone that said 'you can't', and show them what you are made of.

"I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what's gonna happen or, who I'm gonna meet, where I'm gonna wind up[...]I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you...to make each day count." -Jack Dawson, Titanic (1997)

This quote is one I choose to live by because it's from my favorite movie and it's incredibly true. I can never know how different things will be when I wake up from one day to the next. I never know how a series of events will drastically alter the way I view the world and the people in it, so I try not to dwell on the little things that set me back. All I can ask of myself is to make use of the things I am given to make the best of the things I can't control to make life worth living. I now try to take time to appreciate the things that in one blink could be gone, because it really is the small things that count the most.

Bella: "Death is peaceful-easy. Life is harder."--Twilight--

I had seen this movie when it first came out in 2008 and this quote had inspired me because it made me think about how hard everything is today in our society. Such as, going into high school anf passing to get into college or getting a well paid job. It makes me think that even though life comes hard it just gives you a bigger challenge to live up too. Also, by finding many more ways to succeed in whatever I want to do later on in life. It makes me want to do better in whatever it is that I am doing by giving it my all and putting in all my effort no matter what it is. It tells me that giving up may be easy, but the best choice that you can make is to follow through and give your all no matter how difficult anything may get.

Iron Man 2:(Tony Stark)"I am Iron Man,the suit and I am one". This quote refers to him being the suit and how he uses the suit to express his life to his suit. What he is trying to say is he uses his suit for powers, but we use our feelings to express the way we think about other things people say about us. This quote reminds me of when i was hearing things that people were saying about me when i was playing sports, and i took it seriously, so what i did was i stepped up my game and did better, and people were starting to tell me how good i did playing

"There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you got to do, is get in touch with it. Stop thinking... Let things happen... and be the ball." – Caddy Shack.

You would never know it by looking at me, but most of what I say is about tennis. It is easily my favorite thing to do in this world and this quote, although talking about golf, has inspired me to drive harder on the court; push past the sweat and physical pain to find my inner strength to control the ball and ultimately overrule my opponent. Ordinary people think that tennis is a sport for weak athletes; they just have never been on the court when it matters most. The mental aspect of tennis far outweighs the physical aspects of the game. Unlike football or soccer, tennis is a single person sport. If something goes wrong, you have no one else to blame, but yourself. I think of this quote and understand the meaning beyond ink on paper and realize that tennis for me is more than just a game; it’s my lifestyle.

my favorite movie quote is a tie between Robert Pattinson quoting Ghandi in the movie Remember Me. He quoted, "Everything you do in life is insignificant. But it is very important that you do it." and also, the tie to that is in the movie Dear John the lead character, Savannah, says: "The saddest people I've ever met in life are the ones who don't care deeply about anything at all". These two quotes are important to me because in the first one it shows that we can really make a difference with the little things, even if we don't think we can. and the second one is important to me because it shows that we are truly happy and content when we care about something or doing something we love.

"Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game."
-Sam's dad in the movie A Cinderella Story (2004)

This quote has stuck on my mind ever since the first time I watched the movie when I was nine. The quote helps shape the person I am. There is always some type of fear or insecurity lurking in my mind. There are times when all I can think about are my fears. They try to stop me from accomplishing a goal or task. I think about what will happen if I let my fears take over me. I think about all the disappointment that will come along. In times like these, I think back to this quote. I then think about all the excellent rewards that will come out if I defeat my fear. I don’t let the fear of striking out keep me from playing the game. I go for it. A time when I went for the goal and didn't let the fear keep me from trying was taking this enriched language arts class. I had a slight fear of not being able to make it. I feared I wasn't as great of a writer as I had to be to get in. I thought back to this quote, left my fears in the dust, then got down and played the game, and I made it. I now follow these words, and always play the game.

This is me responding to Hallie314. I think that's an awesome quote. The way it was said and how he actually said "period", because that was it, nothing more to be said. It was just so simple, but with a lot of meaning behind it. I love how you interpreted it, and said to look back at your doubters and show them what you can accomplish. Awesome!!

"Going in one more round when you don't think you can that's what makes all the difference in your life"
-Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV
The Rocky movies are some of my favorite movies, especially the fourth. This is one of the quotes that always makes me think. I think it means that even though things are difficult and they only seem to get more difficult I can always push myself to hold on a little longer and try a little harder to reach my goal. Once that goal is reached I may not remember the whole journey but I will remember that one moment where i decided to continue forth, the moment that led me to, in the end, reach my final goal.

“PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?

GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.

GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.”

^^^ from lord of the rings ^^^
It makes me think about death and all the possibilities of what happens to someone when they die. It would be nice though, if Gandalf's Theory is correct.

"I keep thinking that the last thing I said to her was, 'Good luck tonight, Travis.'
"I know. I keep thinking about the last thing I said to Jason."
"That was different."
"Why?"
"Because… Jason knew that you loved him." This quote is from Cloverfield and it makes me think because it shows that we say things all the time that we don't mean. Also, that we can't change what we have already said just because we didn’t actually represent them. It’s somewhat scary to me because I will never be able to take back anything that I say. However, having something mean and spiteful being the last thing you ever said to somebody you cared about... is just so horrible, I can't imagine it. I would never be able to get over that completely, I would want to be able to go back in time and change what I said. I would want to fix my relationship with that person, but I would never be able to. This is one of the reasons I will try not to get angry with somebody I’m close or fight with them. This quote makes me realize that I shouldn’t take what I have for granted because I don’t know how long I’ll have it.

"People make mistakes, even the ones we love. We forgive, and keep moving forward."

This is one of my favorite quotes from a movie and one that has resembled me. Alot of people have made mistakes that I kno. Most of the time I have let them disappear from my life and i try my best not to remeber them. Now im learning that the people that have hurt me I should try to forgive, forget, and move on from the past no matter how much they've hurt me.

Robert Pattinson: (quoting Ghandi) "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it."
This quote reminds me that even though everything I do in life may seem insignificant, its important that I do it because no one else will. For example if someone is getting bullied and you stand up for them, then you just made a difference. No matter how small it may seem, no one else would have done it and I bet to that person, you're a hero.

~Emmett Cullen~Twilight~

I saw Twilight in 2008 at my friend's house when it first came out on DVD. The first quote reminds me of life. Life is always changing directions, and sometimes i just feel like I'm along for the ride. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with life's changes. The second quote ties in with this because it reminds me not to take life too seriously when I feel life is beating me up.

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time given to us." - Gandalf the Grey.
I do agree that Gandalf is a stinky old man but he does know how to really make a person think.
Life is pie. You can chose to either eat the whole thing in one sitting, or you could eat a little at a time. Which ever brings you more happiness is your prerogative. And wouldn't you like to live by your prerogative instead of some strangers? I think that people look ahead to the future to often. When your eighty and lying on your death bed, wouldn't you like to think back and play out all your memories of the crazy things you did? Or would you rather think back and have only a few memories full of life? I think people just need to make the best of the cards that are dealt to them because you might get ran over today or tomorrow... See where I'm coming from? This quote, when spoken, made my mind wander as to what im really doing with my life and whether im making it worth remembering.
To sum myself up, i will present a quote.
"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body but to rather skid in sideways, totally worn out with a martini in one hand and a chocolate bar in the other shouting; "HOLY S*** MAN! WHAT A RIDE!"

One quote that has stuck in my head is what the dad from Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby, "If you ain't first, your last."
This quote means that if you dont do your best, then you will always end up at the end of the line. In addition, it also means that you need to at least try, or else you'll fail in the process. This quote reminds me a lot of me coaches from when I played basketball for St.Ambrose (thank you coach Mog). I say this, because basketball was my sport in my old school, and I had some of the best coaches I coyuld have asked for, and they had motivated and believed in me that I could actually play the right possitions, guard the right people, etc. In additiom, it reminds me a lot of my parents, who have helped and supported me in all of my endeavors. In short, this quote could motivate more people, if they had the right supporters, and a single goal in mind.

"Were not perfect. Any of us. We make mistakes, we screw up but then we forgive and move forward."
-Kim, The Last Song
I love The Last Song, it is my all time favorite movie, espicially from Nicholas Sparks. There were so many quotes to choose from, it was hard to pick just one. But, this quotes stuck out to and reminded me that everyone makes mistakes, and nobody is perfect. It shows that no matter what I do there will always be someone there for me, cheering me on and ready to help me when I fall. My family and friends will always forgive me no matter what. But, most importantly I know that to move forward I need to initially forgive myself and never give up even when times get tough and I don't think I can make it. This quote and many others from this movie keep me going, and striving to achieve my absolute best, keep reaching for the stars and remembering the sky is the limit.

"Holding anger is a poison...It eats you from the inside...We think that by hating someone we hurt them...But hatred is a curved blade...and the harm we do to others...we also do to ourselves..." Mitch Alboms, The Five People We Meet in Heaven, said by Ruby.

This quotes impacts my thinking every single time I become upset or angered with the imperfections, wrongdoings or the distasteful choices of others. I remember that anger is unnecessary and a waste of time. Like the quote says, “holding anger is a poison…” is an excellent metaphor for anger and portrays anger cleverly. I have felt the power of angers poison and learned its miserable effects, therefore, referring to this quote. After analyzing this movie quote I choose to no longer let anger harmfully effect me.
Also, “We think that by hating someone we hurt them, but hatred is a curved blade and the harm we do to others we also do to ourselves,” most certainly motivates me to control my thinking and outlook of others. I once noticed that when I was enraged, I was likely to have fuming thoughts. The feeling of hate towards other people actually comes to hurting oneself ;“hatred is a curved blade”. This quote has definitely impacted my thinking; if I had not applied this movie quote to my life I would not have the understanding of hatred that I have today.

"It was times like these when I thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived". ~Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird. This quote reminds me of my father in many ways. My dad is very important to me. Most people think he is just an ordinary guy, but they couldn't be farther from the truth. My dad was hit by a car when he was a paramedic and lost his leg because of the accident. If a person walked up to him on the street they would never be able to tell that anything was different with him because he never complains. He took his injury in stride and always has something posotive to say about it. I have always believed in my dad and hes never fallen through for me. No matter whats going on in my life I always look to my dad as an inspiration. He has taught me many important qualities and they will stick with me for the rest of my life. He has been brave his whole and his bravery is being instilled in me. No matter what happens the rest of my life, I will always have his words inmy head telling me the right path to take.

"I look and I see white everywhere. White walls white floors and alotta white people. The teachers do not know I have no idea of anything they're talking about. I do not want to listen to anyone, especially the teachers. They are giving homework and expecting me to do the problems on my own. I have never done homework in my life. I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror and say, 'this is not Micheal Oher'"
-"White Walls" by Micheal Oher, The Blind Side

This quote/poem really reached out to me. It shows how lonely and sensitive Micheal is. He seems to be in the body of a young child. He is lost in a new place with unfamiliar faces and nobody to turn too. He is in a school with all white children, while he is African American. He is the minority of the school. It is sad to hear how alone he really is. He hasn't even discovered who he himself is. It is hard for him to find his place in the world and had he had someone who reached out to him (S.J), he would have had help discovering himself and who he really is.

Han Solo called Obi-Wan a fool. Obi-Wan replied,"Who is the more foolish: the fool or the fool that follows him?"
When I was very young, I watched Star Wars too much. I think a part of it literally once a day. I couldn't understand the dialogue very well, but the action and pictures sure entertained me. As I got older and still watched it, I started to understand what the characters were saying. I particularly like this quote because it makes me think as an individual. Do I want to be a mindless termite letting everyone else make my decisions for me? Obviously, when the question is posed like that no, I don't. However, my parents have a very strong opinion on youth that makes them think we are ignorant, inexperienced, and unappreciative. My dad's favorite sayings were,"(when I asked why) There is no why. There's only do and obey." Also, he favored,"(when i was scolded and stated my reason for my behavior) That's not the answer. What's the answer? Do you need your siblings to help you with the answer?"
This quote I favor because like I said, it reminds me that I am a unique individual, and to always do what is right in my mind, and to not go with the wrong flow. Also, it was my favorite movie.

Voldemort:"Why do you live?"
Harry Potter:"Because I have something worth living for."
Although this movie has not been released, all of the ads on television and the radio contain this quote. No matter how many times that I listen to this quote, I remember numerous occurrences where, during rough times, I was asked this question through my conscience. When people and other influential figures ask me this, they post me a challenge. Am I simply going to quit when I am stuck in a hole, or will I look out of that hole, at the sunlight, and yell for help until i get that rope thrown down to me and climb out? My parents have taught me to be a fighter and never quit. So, for me, this quote reminds me to try my hardest, never give up, and realize that "I have something worth living for".

"Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away." (Hitch, 2005)

Every morning I wake up and I have have the same characteristics as the night before, the same values, hair color and standards. A part of these characteristics lies the act of wrongful behavior. From the moment we are able to talk, we are told what is wrong. This part of us essentially becomes programmed into us by our parents or guardians. There will always be wrong in this world. Always. Not one man can say he has never lied, cheaten or stolen to or from another man. These acts are frowned upon by society. What I refer back to the quote with is the fact that these acts can be done so they are recognized as correct, or not wrong. If you must lie, lie to protect. If you must steal, steal what is yours. If you must cheat, cheat something that matters. If society is going to indeed cheat, steal and lie, why not do it in a way that has a positive outcome? It makes me realize that no matter what rules society follows, not one person can say they have abiding by every single one. So if we are going to break them anyways, lets break them with intelligence and respect. Let us break these principals of behavior to bring good to society.

I've seen many movies, and had many quotes that made me think deeper about myself as a person, but just like names, they escape me if I don't often hear them. When I noted what this topic was, I realized that the only movie I know by heart was The Mummy (Quite predictable, right?), and that Eve shared a lot of common traits with myself. Whenever she spoke, I could always agree with what she said. One thing made me think that it didn't matter who you were. You could be as spontaneous as you'd like, but you should never find yourself ashamed of who you truly are. Don't put on a facade to blend in, and don't hide what your true interests are. We must strive to remember that we are our own person, and no matter how interesting others may seem, they have no say in who governs your own life. Evelyn Carnahan said one thing when she was with Rick O'Connell, and he was an early American treasure hunter, thrill seeker, soldier, and so much more. She was only a well educated woman, out of place for her time period, and a librarian. Yet, no matter how she wanted to impress Rick, she was honest about who she thought of herself as. If only the real world could express honesty and logic over the desire to be interesting! That one thing she'd stated was really quite simple, but had a deeper meaning that you'd need to observe through the context clues in the movie.
"Look, I," she began in a sudden daze. "I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am."
"And what is that?" He asked her with a frank air of interest.
"I," she paused, wither for dramatic effect or considering the words she was about to speak. "Am a librarian."

“Now is the time that we must choose between what is right and what is easy.”
-Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005)

In life, we are all faced with choices. Whether they be small or life altering, everyone has to make them. In this quote coming from my favorite Harry Potter movie, the speaker talks about how doing the right thing is often difficult. Taking the easy way out of something may seem like the best option at the time, but it might be regretted later in life. I personally can relate to this quote, being new to high school. There are many different people and factors that affect decisions that are made. The pressure, the friends, the enemies, the schoolwork, and the expectations can at times seem too much to handle and get the better of us. Taking the easy way out is tempting, and if we can’t stay strong in our beliefs, it is hard not to give in. This quote reminds me that throughout high school and the rest of my life, I will have to make choices that will be challenging. Doing the right thing may seem impossible, especially if it appears as if everyone else is taking the easy road. I mean, it can’t be so wrong if everyone else is doing it, right? When I ask myself this question, that is when I think of who I am. Do I want this action to define me? Is this the kind of person I want to be? After answering, I can only hope that it is not to late to make the right choice.

"Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it's everything in between that makes it all worth living"
Hope floats.

This movie reminds me when i used to watch this with my mom when i was very little.
I must have been about 8??
I didn't understand ANYTHING in the movie, mostly adult things.
I watched it recently and i understood it all, this quote I think is very powerful because it's so true, everything in between your birth and you death is so worth living for, your memories, your name what you live up to. Also this makes me think of the poem that Rachel Scotts dad wrote about how the 2 dates that are on your tomb stone the day you were born and the day you died, the dates in between that tell a whole different story.

This movie's story line is that a father's daughter is abducted and her father a security guard, decides to look for his daughter and save her. when i first saw the last song, this quote made me think about how no one is perfect no matter how hard we try. Everyone messes up every now and then but we can't dwell on the past. We have to forgive one another & continue living our life, because thats all we can do.

"You wanna hurt me? Go on ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right. I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold hearted cynic like you, but I don't like to hurt peoples feelings. And you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get." - Planes, Trains and Automobiles (quoting Del Griffith)

The reason why I like this quote so much, is because I think it describes a lot about the person I am. I am constantly being judged by other people. Majority think I'm one of the girls who don't care about anything besides boys and parties. That is not who I am. Boys are one of the last things on my mind right now, and I don't have the time to go to parties every weekend, even if I wanted to. I would guess people view me this way because of the way I live my life. The way I do my hair and makeup, the clothes I wear, the friends I have, my outgoing personality, and the fact I have more guy friends then girls. If people took the time to know me they'd understand that I do love to be a crazy person, I like to go out with my friends, I don't get along easily with girls and I try really hard in school. Sometimes it gets to be because people treat me differently and push me away befor they get to know me. I get judged very easily, but most of the time i try not to take it personally. It's not necessarily their fault, and I don't blame them. So I picked this quote because it describes me very well. People can keep on thinking what they want about me, I'm not changing for the ones who wont take the time to really get to know me.

[Avatar]Jake Sully: There’s no such thing as an ex-marine. You may be out, but you never lose the attitude.

[Gladiator]Maximus: What we do in life echoes in eternity.

I have two quotes that move me. I'll start with Gladiator. I see the movie for the first time awhile back and this quote really stood out to me. It makes me stop and think about everything I do as a person. And that What we do in life DOES echo in eternity. It shows me that the things I do now, will be with me forever. The quote from Avatar is also a favorite. Although it came out in 2009, this movie will be one of my favorites forever. To me, you are who you are and nothing can change that. You can dye your hair, wear certain clothes, buy certain things, but you're always going to be the person you were born. (If that makes sense.) What Jake is trying to say is that no matter what happens, you'll still be who you are. That truly speaks to me. I live by these quotes, and there are many more that I can list, but these beautiful quotes remind me that I'am always going to be...me:)

"The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it". - The Lion King

Everyone has a past. There are positive and negative events that happen to all of us. It does not matter how many negative events are in your life, you just have to learn from those events and move forward. Learning from your past makes you a stronger person. You cannot change the past. You just have to realize what happened so that history does not repeat itself. Running away from your past will just cause more trouble when it catches up to you later. We may have regrets from what happened, but we must remember that we cannot change it and must move on. Life is too short to live with regrets.

i think that this quote means to not let anyone keep you from missing out on the things that you enjoy doing. also this means to always be yourself and dont be afraid of messing up in life or making mistakes. if people laugh at you when you mess up just ignore it and always keep your head up. you also shouldnt have to change for anyone. if they dont like you for who you are dont be afraid just stay the way you are.

My momma always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." -Forrest Gump

I chose this quote from my favorite movie. I chose this quote because it says how you live life every day but what you can never really figure out is what will come along until it happens. I've watched this movie thousands of times and every time I hear this quote I think about how i don't know what will happen tomorrow or the next day or even months or years later. I don't even know what will happen in a minute. Life is more about finding your own path than letting others choose it and if you let others choose it you aren't getting a variety of what comes at you. You're giving other people the chance to make your life the same as anothers.

"It's what you do right now that makes a difference" from Black Hawk Down. this means alot to hear this because it very true, its not about what you did in past its what your doing now that rally counts. you cant go back, or change the past and you cant predict the future all you can do is live in the present and make the differnce now and not later. most people really need to learn this quote and live by it, it really helps throught your life.

I guess what I'm saying is that the suprises in your life aren't all going to be bad, and when they are you just have to make the best of it.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.
- Dead Poets Society.

I love that quote because first off that is one of my favorite movies because it is my moms favorite movie and she showed it me on one lazy rainy day. That quote speaks to me in so many ways. I like how it talks about why they do something because they love it and no what the human race wants them to do or love. Everyone is differnt. It talks about what we need to live for but really what we love is what we stay alive for. I inspire to be a journlist or reporter when im older and this quote reminds me why I want to be that, for adventure, passion, love and hope not because Its nessicary for my survival. The beautiful things in life are what we stay alive for, if you think about it.. If we lived a a dull life of just working, we would miss out on the beauty of life, [love]. This quote has been an all time favorite of mine for a while and no sits on my mirror so that everyday when I wake up I can see it and remeber why I like to do what I do.

"Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man mad"
Morgan Freeman, The Shawshank Redemption.

This quote might contradict most people's virtues, but if we think about it, it's very true. Hope is something that can help us achieve our goals, but we should never rely only on hope, or we will get even more dissapointed if we fail to achieve those goals. Hope is good, yes, but too much hope can be even worse. As kids, we all wacthed cartoons in which we are encouraged to "never give up hope", and that is true, but we should never rely on unlikely chances that in the end everything will always workout(ex. spending all our money on lottery tickets).

Black Knight: Oh, had enough eh?
Arthur: Look, you stupid *******. You've got no arms left!
Black Knight: Yes I have.
Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: Just a flesh wound!"
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail

To me, this quote says no matter what life throws at you, you have to continue with a positive outlook. Don’t let the major challenges in life stop you from continuing on your “journey”. Even though the Black Knight had no arms or legs left he still wanted to finish the fight he started. He could've given up. In life, if you give up easily you won't make it far. When challenges come along you need to have perseverance and determination in order to succeed in life.

Life is a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you're going to get.” Forst gump

Everyone has heard this quote a million times, but I like it. Life is full of surprises, every step taken can put you on a whole diferant path. At times that might scare me, but i think it is mostly pretty exciting. You are in control of your future. Even if you are scared to see what will happen, you have to take every opportunity given to you. In order to make your furure what you want it to be you have to be the first one to pull off the lid on your box of chocolates and look inside and see what life has brought you. In other words dont miss out on opportunities. If opportuniteies are not taken while their around, they can be lost forever.
The only way to get to full ride out of life is to take chances.

"music is all around us even in e universe". This quote is from the movie august rush. It makes me think there is more to life than just what the tv says and you have to go out there and find what you are looking for. Music can tell a lot about someones personality. It can tell you what your inner most emotions are that only come out when something sparks it such as music. This quote also makes me want to go out there and care for people who are in need I don't know why it does but that's the first thing that comes in mind when I hear this quite spoken in the movie or read to me. This and all quotes can tell a lot about a person because it always represents what that person admires most.

I showed me that even when life gets hard and things get bad you still have to try to stay innocent and pure. It also showed that you have to want to be able to stay gold because theres always people trying to bring you down and if you let them do that then your letting them win and thats not good.

In eight grade I watched the movie The Outsiders. This is The quote that I chose from it, "Stay gold Ponyboy." I chose this quote because it always tells me to stay at my best. It also helps me make the right decision. By repeating this in my head I always know to keep away from trouble. This quote also means you should stay true to your friends because their are all you have in life other than your family. By doing this you stay honest to them and become like family. If you aren't honest with your friends then they won't your friends anymore and losing a friend us like losing your family member. You also need to stay true to your family. That is why I chose the quote "Stay gold Ponyboy."

What if you could go back in time, and take all those hours of pain and darkness and replace them with something better?- gretchen ross from the movie donnie darko 28:06:42:12

This quote makes me think about what I would change, and if I changed these things what kind of person I would be. How much would be different? Would my personality completely change? The people around me? My surroundings?
Donnie Darko is sort of a sci-fi movie and talks about time travel. This quote makes me think about all the parallel universes possible. Like if someone hadn't suffered one specific hardship (went back in time and changed it) if their entire world may change just because of their attitude one day passing from person to person. The things people say that make others think. Do those change anything? If they are thinking about what that person said or did instead of listening and paying attention in class would they miss some important information that would be on a test? Could this question change their grade from an A- to a B+ and could give them a bad day? So could this effect those around them? Duh, these are the things that make a person. Whether you know about it or not you pick up subliminal messages all the time and attitudes with them. If someone has an attitude one day a stranger may choose not to speak to them or be friends and opportunities may be lost, and the universe shifts yet again. Small things change the world.

There are many quotes that have inspired me to be who I want to be. One of my favorite movie series is the Rocky's. If you have never seen them they are about an underdog boxer who goes the distance in the ring with the undisputed champion multiple time. Although Rocky,(or Sylvester Stallone)played a phenominal role, he was not my favorite actor in the movie. There is one man who stuck out as a inspiration to Rocky. This person is his trainer, Micky Goldmill. Mick was a great man who helped Rocky be the best boxer he could be. Mick said some great things in all the movies, but my favorite quote that he said has to be "Your gonna eat lighnting, and your gonna crap thunder!". Everytime I watch the movies and Mick says this, I not only laugh at it, but I think that to be as great as Rocky I have to eat lightning and crap thunder (metaphorically speaking of course). What this means to me is to be the absolute best I can be, no matter what it is, I have to work for it. I have to be the type of player who fights for the ball on every play, or runs out the ball on every hit, or the type of student who studies harder than everyone else just to maintain that A average. This quote is not just a line in a movie, not something that an actor just said. It's a inspiration to go tryhard in every thing that I do. So next time you hear Mick say these words, don't look at it as a joke, look at it as motivation to do your best. No matter what you do.

"I think we all - I think all of us - want to feel something that we've forgotten or turned our backs on because maybe we didn't realize how much we were leaving behind."-Jenna Rink, 13 going on 30
When i first saw this movie, I completey loved it. It focuses on a 13 year old girl who wishes to be 30 years old really bad. Then one day her wish is granted and she wakes up actually being a 30 year old woman. She then quickly has to adjust to her new life, try to remember what has changed since she was a teenager and get used to strangers that dominate her surroundings. She then regrets her wish and starts to desire and go back to the time of when she was 13. This quote pretty much states that you should appreciate the moment that your in. Sometimes we never know how important something or someone is until we lose them. It teaches me to be thankful of everything that I have in my life from my family, to friends and to school and so on. I also have to understand that the specific phases that I go through throughout my years have a certain reason for their being and I should enjoy the moment as much as possibe because i want to be able to look back at my past and remember all the good times. Everything i do now, will affect the person that I will end up being in the future.

Tuesdays with Morrie "We must love one another or die." This quote refers to the fear of dependency within humans. We have been taugh to belive that if we depend on others than we are weak. We belive that the only times that we must ever be dependent upon anyone else in life is as children or as the elderly. This quote, however, says that we must always depend on others for our own survival and that it does not make us weak. It makes me believe that even when I do get help from someone else, it does not show that I am weak or less of a person but that I am human. It tells us that we must help and respect each other in order to survive in this world. As a race, humans have always depended on each other. In ancient times, they had to dependend on each other for help in hunting and other jobs to survive. In modern times, we specialize in certain jobs and perform certain actions to help each other live. If one part of the chain fails, such as if there were no longer water processing plants, we could all die. We must trust each other to perfom these actions in order to continue life. If we do not trust each other, if we do not love each other, we will die.

I heard this quote from a trailer of a movie that played before the Longest Yard, so I am not sure what movie it was from. However, have remembered it ever since. "It is not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog"

I think I have remembered this quote because I felt that it spoke to me directly. I have played lots of sports, but I have chosen baseball now, and people have always told me that I am too short and too small. I just ignore them, knowing that what they think does not matter. Now, I use the quote to motivate me. I use it to motivate me when I am training, and when I am in the game, to help push myself, and succeed. I actually thank those people for telling me those things because they have helped me improve myself.

There is always a memory or a feelng you have of that person. The person may have made you feel your best, or pushed you to do your best. You can't just forget someone in the snap of a finger. There will always be the story of the past that keeps coming up and reminds you of that person.

greetins freshman and Mrs. Perrin! this is Ryan Perkins, a junior and former student of Mrs. Perrin, who i hope dosent mind me posting on here, but i figured if it was a movie quote blog then i HAD to respond.

ahhh movie quotes, where would we be without them. they give us something to say when we cant think of it ourselves. they also give us a chance to relate reality to fiction. some of the most famous quotes include, "I'll be back"-terminator, "Luke, I am your father"-star wars, "I'll make him an offer he cant refuse"-godfather, "You can't handle the truth!"- a few good men, and "why is the rum always gone?"- pirates of the caribbean (i had to throw a Depp film in there for Perrin, lol)Anyway one of my personal favorite quotes comes not from a robot, italian mob boss, sith lord, general, or a pirate. My favorite quotes comes from a monkey, a baboon to be exact. The quote in question is from a movie im sure we have all seen, the lion king. actually it is not so much a quote as it is a passage, and rather then tell you about it, i will SHOW you it. so if you will direct your attention to the link below and enter it in the web bar at the tob of the screen, you can watch the passage of which i will speak(making popcorn is an option)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykbx-yzFgBo&feature=related

(warning: do not continue reading if you havent seen the clip, or else this may not make sense)

basically this quote says it all in a comidic way. you cant run or hide from your past, and the past can hurt, but we just hav to accept it, or learn from it. i realize i just repeated the entire quote but i do hav a point here. There is another saying the "time heals all wounds" this is not true. some people never get over a loss of a loved one, but as time passes we learn to deal with it, but the fact is that the past still happened, and that cant be changed. what can be changed is how we view our past and how we view ourselves at the end. So i hearby edit the saying to now be,"time heals all wounds, but it still leaves scars." these scar remind us of what happened, but they dont dictate what will happen, the only one to do that is YOU. yea i know, i can be deep. well i think ive taken up enough of your time (and blog space) so i leave you now with a peace out and hakuna matata

Chris Vaughn-from the movie "To Save a Life":Life is a journey, not so much to a destination, but a transformation.
"To Save a Life", is one of my all time favorite movies that I have seen this year. This movie is full of amazing, inspirational quotes, this being the one I like the most. Life is a journey, everyday we all go through stuggles and hardships, joy and memories, but this is not the end. I believe this life is not our destination, but a journy we all are in. In the second part of the quote it says, "...but a transformation", which to me, life brings everyday. Rachels challenge for example is a transformation that changed my veiws on how I can make a difference in someone's life, and step out of my comfort zone to show a little kindness. This quote lastly challenges me to think how short our time here on earth is, and what we can do to transform the world and the people around us.

Imagination is the drive behind creation. it is the escape from a boring day, or the gateway to another world. Imagination opens the doors of art.
