Fate

Fate--a life planned without an individuals consent. (I would hate to be so lame as to use the dictionary definition again.)

Romeo says to his friends, "He that has the steerage of my course, direct my sails. On lusty gentlemen." (Rough citation) This begs the question, "How much choice do we have in the way our lives turn out?" Do we direct our sails or is it the wind that pushes our vessel out to sea or to the nearest shore and we are simply the riders waiting out the ride?

I have always believed that everything happens for a reason. President Obama became President to silence the others, you got the luck of the draw of having Mrs. P as your teacher, bell bottoms went out of style and oh so many other events. What does fate have to say? Does fate exist? Are we pawns? Or, is fate a scapegoat for our fear of taking responsibility?

Write out your thoughts on fate.

Hello Everyone,
Fate exists, however it is not set in stone. We can change our fate by our free-will. We have the choice to do what we want with our lives and there are reasons why we are here. However, if we take our opportunities, or if we waste them, we are redirecting our fate. Everybody can choose to do good and they can choose to work with their talents, but regardless fate is up to yourself and no one else.
Fate can be influenced by others, but it can nevr be officially made by anyone else, because everyone is in charge of their own fate.
We have the power to choose, therefore our fate is never ever set in stone.

To me fate is just a word used to explain something. If something appears bad usually people say that was thier fate or how God choose them to die that day. At Virginia Tech University thirty-three people died, but still people say that it might just be fate. This is a act of fear and sadness toward those people that died. When a event that happens for the best of people some would call it luck. If someone would win the lottery people call it pure luck though it could of been fate. There are so many reasons of why people use these meanings that make it seem like fate is just a word to explain people.

I think fate is an excuse people use when they cant blame anyone else but themselves for somthing. I agree with Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Our future is not written, we can make it whatever we want. Also I believe things happen for a reason. The thing is it is not always clear what the reason is until much later in life. I think all choices we make affect what will happen in our future. But we dont know what they are so dont worry about consequnces so much. just live your life as best you can and take risks. Never spend your life wondering what might have been, when you had the chance to know.

I struggle thinking about this topic because i do believe that everything happens for a reason, but i do not believe in fate. I believe that we can choose our own fate. Our actions decide what happens to us. But whatever our actions, it effects someone else in some way or another.

I like what Hamid said. It's good. I agree with it.

I actually did my essay on this sort of subject, with the viewpoint that humans all have the ability to choose, no matter what situation they are in. Also, if you choose not to decide, you have still made a choice.

So, fate does not exist. However, there is an online game called Fate that I've heard is pretty fun.

Hello everybody. Its Andy and he is posting a blog about fate, right after Deron explains what he thinks about fate.

-Deron

I have a very strong assumption regarding fate. It is the influential constituent that manages everyones life. I think it to be preposterously contingent that anyone could contradict the continuance of such an intense and biased proposition. Anyone who disapproves of this theme and idea can concentrate their arm into a broiling, burning, fiery, and hot cask replete with water and muck!
Ha!

I agree with Deron. That's all that I have to say!

I mostly agree with Selena fate exists only it is not set in stone.
You control where your life ends up. I do howerer think that "fate" doesn't always have to be bad. It can be good too. Like winning the lottery could be considered fate or finding your life partner can be fate. People always talk about fate as being a bad thing but the truth is it's only bad if you make it that way.

I do think that fate exists, but i believe that it can be changed. We have control over our own life. Nobodys life goes through no changes or stuggles. There is also going to be people in your life that are going to change it for the better or the worse. All of the tragedies that happened in the world, i do not think was planned for the victims, they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Just a side note: Makepeace... you're a new'uun here arncha? :)

DISCLAIMER: This is a rather short rant on something I would normally go into great detail on but I'm watching P.S. I Love You and am distracted... enjoy anyway.

I agree with Ryan as far as fate doesn't exist. The only time I would see fate as anywhere near plausible is when referring to love. When you're with the right person it may seem like it was "destined to be". I think that the possibility how there's a someone for everybody is true. As far as everything else goes, no. There is no fate. Just a euphemism here, if someone's good at acting that doesn't mean they have to be an actor/actress. What if they love to paint or do magic or whatever but they're not that great at it, if it was up to "fate" nothing else should work out for them and they should be in theatre whether they like it or not. "Unfair" is the million dollar word for eh-he-heverything of this nature. Religion, fate, etc. Like Ryan said, it's just an excuse for when people have no one else but themselves to blame things on and as humans, we're obsessed with perfection and are just too friggen proud to ever admit anything EVER! But going back to fate, it's really just another way for that "God" dude I hear people raving about to control us... he's kind of a dictator ain't he? So jealous and consumed with power I'm surprised he's not down here on a throne made of gold smiting people when they don't do what he says. All assuming if the Christians are right... dang I do enjoy being atheist. Love it or shove it =D

This rant was brought to you in part by my sarcasm, cynicism and the "Just See if I Was Kidding" foundation.

I believe in fate. I think that everything that we do is for a reason and that everything that we do ties into our life along with everyone's lives around us. It plays a key role in how we live, and Guides us through life, HOWEVER, i believe fate can change, not by our means and not always to our liking, but things happen that can change it. Everything we do effects something and will have good or bad consequences. Our fate can also be changed by other people, not necessarily on purpose.

Leanne ♥ said...

Fate is in the world however as many people have said, fate can be changed. We do everything for a reason and everything happens for a reason. Fate can be changed because it is up to you and your decisons. Fate as many other things can be influenced by others as Selena said. No one can ever offically change or make your whole fate but they can definitly influence it. Since changes can be made so quickly, our fate is decided by us and can change when our minds and our decisons change.

I really do not beleive in fate, that god chooses what you do, and I'm not even sure about god in general. I just go by what I know for sure, and that is that I chose to write this blog, It is not my fate, it is what I decided. Fate is something that we know will happen. For example, everyone will die one day, that is fate, and in this one cool movie I was watching, there was this guy who totally hated his dad, because he was always mean, but then he found out later, that he was his dad. Isn't that trippy? It might be weird, but he had the same fate as his dad though. And in the three little pigs, thier fate was to learn a lesson, sticks and hay are not good tools.

Im sorry, but i really dont care about fate. oh everything happens for a reason, thats a bunch of bull So if i were to kill someone (hypothetically), does that mean that someone is going to kill me?

If you listen to many rap songs, they are proabably about at least 50% likely to mention killing or something along those lines. Well one of the songs i am specifically talking about is a song called "Pass the Axe" This is a song about ppl that pass an axe around their group and kill a bunch of ppl. Its pretty gruesome. i might post the lyrics as another post sometime. Ill have to edit it tho.

Anyway, Peace out ppls =)

Thinking that Obama's election had anything to do with fate is ridicules. Obama's election had nothing to do with "fate", that goob, got elected because of the leftist wackos at CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, Comedy Central, New York Times, Plain Dealer, Time magazine, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, I could keep going but you get the point. That man did not deserve to win. Some of you kool-aid drinkers will disagree, but when you have main anchors (anchors are supposed to be the most unbiased) saying that "when Obama speaks, I get a tingly feeling running up my leg". That is just ridicules that people listen to the news establishment.

To some extent I do believe in fate. No I do not think that fate controls every single person’s life. Everybody has things that they are good at, some people are better with sports, writing, or politics. Another thing that fate is involved with is that one kind of family you have, if you have a good supportive family chances are that you will do better than a very unsupportive family. Also if you would grow up in inner city Cleveland or another inner city you would not receive as good of an education as if you went to a private school or to a school like Brunswick.

What you decide to do with your life is not fate. If I decide that I want to work at Mc'ds the rest of my life, fine. It was not my fate to do that. It is also not my fate to go into politics. That is my decision. Everyone can make a lot of choices about their lives, but not all of them you could choose.

Yes fate can be a scapegoat. A perfect example of this happening is the NAACP. They wine and complain about everything, we now have a 1/2 African American president. The NAACP still isn’t happy, because he doesn’t have "slave blood" which is just ridicules. I am post-ratiol, meaning I couldn't care less if it is a guy, girl, or is African American, Chinese, or little green men. I just don't care. My problem is that the minority's no longer try to exceed and try to make themselves the best. They have basically begun to compete to see who the ones in the worst positions are so they can whine about it and get money from the government. It might be fate that they were born the way they were but they can still succeed.

Fate really does not control much more than our basic traits and atmosphere, beyond that we have to be the best we can be.

fate is a weird thing. i do believe that fate is real, but we do have control over iour own fate. i do believe that everything happens for a reason and that each little moment has a huge significance in s persons life. Evene though it may seem very small to you , it may be a huge deal to a person that you have just interacted with. Also fate has a weird way of going in circles. EVerytime you meet someone you realize that you have either a) seen them before b) hated them before or c) known them without actually knowing them (if that makes sense) so i think thats all i really have on the subject.
see you all in class!

HELLO (:
I do believe that everything happens for a reason. But I do not truly believe that fate exists I don’t feel that we are forced upon out fate, but we choose our own fate by the choices we make everyday of our life. We go through life with changes everyday good and bad and I think the choices we make everyday just lead to where we will be in the future. That’s all I can think of as of right now(:

I am a strong believer in the saying , everything happens for a reason . I do belive fate exists and it is in our hands, we have control over it. Everyday of our lifes we have to make decisons. Sometimes we blame things that happen on "fate" when in reality we had control over the situation.
Many people are too coward to take responsibily towards their own actions.

I, too have always thought that everything happens for a reason. I believe that there is definitely something guiding us, and we all have a certain purpose in our life, i don't think there is a set plan for our entire life, because we have to make decisions. But ultimately we will end up doing something, wether we like it or not. Everytime i meet someone, or gain something, i try and figure out the significance, and how it might help me, or challenge me thourghout my life, almost always there is. It could be the slightest little thing, but it still has an impact. That is my idea of fate.

I am not actually sure if fate does exist. True, I do believe that some things do happen for a reason...but then again, some things that happen just don't make sense. Things happening and making sense are a huge part of reality though. I believe that we have the key to unlock our future. Fate is not the one who is controlling the outcomes of our lives, we are. There are those who would rather blame others (including fate) for their faults. Everyone has faults, it's what makes us human beings. I don't believe that fate controls the outcome of our future. I believe that we should not wait for fate to work or act on its own. We should take control of our lives and when or if fate comes along, know that you at least have a future and didn't waste your life waiting for fate to change your life.

LIke Selena said i think fate does exist. Also in a way i think it is kinda set into stone. I think we do make chocies that lead us to a new path but were still on the same road. We deicide if we want to work hard to earn good grades. We deicide to maybe go to college and the career that we want to persue when we grow up. Then we make a ton of other desisions that writes our fate. I think that we write our own fates and turn out the way we want to be. Those are my feelings on the topic of fate.

Beth said...

I do believe that fate exists but im also a huge believer in everthing happens for a reason. I think that everybody has the choice to do whatever they want with their life. I think fate is not set in stone, that it is able to change with the choices and desicions one makes.I think you as a person are always in control where your life ends up. I believe that its the descions in life you make that affect you. I think that everything you do in life either has a good or a bad consequence. Lets say that one day you decide to buy a lottery ticket, well it turns out that you ended up winning. I think that is "fate" but it was your descion to buy that ticket, if you did not decide to buy the ticket then you would of never won the lottery.

Adog said...

No. Fate does not exist.
To support my thesis, I will include a famous quote from a famous doctor. Dr. Ludwig, PhD, "...that humans all have the ability to choose, no matter what situation they are in. Also, if you choose not to decide, you have still made a choice." I think that sums my views up pretty well. Now if you will excuse me I would like to say that we get to make choices. Nothing is possessing us to choose what to do. I get to choose whether to have milk with my dinner or some OJ -- My choice! I can lift up my right hand or my left.

Unknown said...

fate is real and it does exist. but not by our actions.

i believe that we do not have any control over fate, it's what God planned for us. i know that some people would probably disagree and say that it's our actions that make us end up somewhere and that's true, but overall we don't have a say. no one really thinks about the meaning of life and how we got here or why we look like what we do(maybe besides priests or nuns or someone). Whats the meaning of life?! we are alive. we choose to get up in the morning and talk to people or listen to our ipod during school or not to do our hw, but that's very minimal "fate." fate is what you don't know. it's what people want to understand and say that oh i know what im going to do with my life but in truth how do you know if you are gonna take another breath?!

like today in class we started to talk about life after death and what will happen (and that's all part of everyones fate) but its a mystery because thats the way its supposed to be. you cant change your fate by doing an action, its what was planned; God knows that you were going to take that chance or what your next thought would be.

Hi,
I believe that fate does exist, but we are the ones who decide our own fate. If your going to tell yourself before you even try something that its not going to work out, it most likely wont. Its not because it wasn't meant to work out, but you decided it was going to be your fate. I believe that the outcome of any situation is fate whether its good or bad. However, i do think that we blame things that are our own faults on fate way too much. If someone doesnt try hard enough, and they loose at something, they'll say "oh it was fate" but its not, it was your decision not to put all that you had into it. So I think that fate does exist, and it is completely up to us what our fate is.

I am one who also believes that everything happens for a reason, and what's ment to be will happen. I believe that there are events that take place in our life, and the ones that we have no control over are whats supposed to happen. an example that has happened to me is that one of my familiy members suffered an illness. this illness was something that she couldn't contol. she eventually worked through this and is better now. i believe this is fate because something else came out of it. me and my family grew closer after this. i think with fate, if one door closes for you, another door opens

Michelle =) said...

Yeah, i believe fate istrue and exists. If something wrong happens, a lot of the time you will here people say"oh don't worry about that. It was just fate. Everything will turn out to be good in the end."

but then in Bruce Almighty the movie, he doesn't really think its fate. Instead he thinks that God hates him.

And like in Harry Potter, harry living could be considered fate based on him living instead of VOldemort killing him. I would go more into that but that would be too wordy. ha!

and another book that could be used for fate is Series of Unfortunate Events. Everything bad always happens to the Baudelair (i don't know how to spell it) kids. they find a way to show that Count Olaf is posing as some nicer person in order to get their money.

BUt if you think of it as like an innocent person dying, is it really his/her fate to die? And i like whatmy little group buddy (makepeace) said, like how it is just a word to describe things.

EVen though we make our own choices and stuff like that, how does fate fit in there??

Like if a person goes to a psychic, and the psychic tells them their fate, wouldn't fate be unnatural because that person might focus on what the psychic told them to make sure it happened?

hmmm...i think that might still be too wordy. i tried not to!! OH and i have a perfectly good reason on why I'm wordy mrs. Perrin so listen up. I am an artist. As an artist I focus on the details. So i notice things others may not and feel i need to elaborate and describe. Therefore since I am an artist,i should be allowed to be wordy. (:

My mommy says being an artist works in this situation but she said that it doesnt work in my "My room is only messy because it's my creativity. My room is my artwork thing..."

Fate is what you make it. Some people don't believe in fate at all, that they are in complete control of their lives and all that goes on in it, but those people are silly. If the wind blows a 50 dollar bill out of your hand, that's not in your control. That's bad luck. But, to the person living on the streets sleeping in a homeless shelter at night who finds that 50 dollars, that's some pretty good fate right there. But, the situation was completely out of their own hands. It was the wind. You get fired from work because of the bad economy. Economy: not in your control. Your bosses decisions: not in your control. You just got hit with a bag of bad luck. Or, i guess, bad fate. So you decide to try your hand at acting, or singing, etc., just for fun. You get hired and are making millions a year for the rest of your life. Fate. Fate can work for good and bad, but it's surely there, nobody can honestly deny that.

I don't believe in fate. I believe in miracles, but just not fate. It's kind of weird to say "it's fate" when honostly, anything can happen. The future's unpredictable and when you say that, it sounds like you're a fourtune teller and it's lame. :|

The future is in our palms, so we're not "pawns" to it. If anything, the future is but another chess peice in the game.
There are certain factors that can lead to the conclusion of a situation, but again, fate is undetermined. I guess, in /a/ way it exists, but I'm too young to decide that right now. x___X

Fate... Listen and sit to the souls of the past. Fate, I've always believed is becomiming another's life but you get a little farther than the last guy. Kind-of like a chain dream. Destiny is not the same as fate because you can change your destiny but fate is rock solid, we are merely here to advance the universe I'm sure that all humans lives are insuffient to those above us (I'm not saying god) but those that have realised the earth is nothing compared to the universe. Our fate, doesn't matter.

Fate has to be one of the hardest topics to blog about for the reason that people have many views on it, and it can be taken in many ways. To me, fate to an extent must exist, for the reason that we are all thrown into this world without choice, (unless there's something I don't remember before I was born)and I believe that is fate, as well as the life you are born into, but I believe much, if not all, you do afterwards is up to your own behavior. There are cases of people not controlling there lives, exceptions to the rule, however, such as the african-americans in the U.S. during times of segregation. However, if there are nothing holding you back, I believe that people make their own decisions. That's all for now. H-Bomb out.

As many people have said, and i agree, everything happens for a reason. When i think of fate, i go straight to what i believe in, or what is said in my religion. i think things are already mapped out for us, but we get to make the choices as we go through our journey. I think that each choice we make effects the later outcome. We are given the opportunity to make choices, but in the end, only one knows our true fate.

fate is just something that people made up as an excuse for when something bad happens. it makes it seem like they had no control over something so that they dont feel bad about the result or so that other people dont blame tham for it. nothing controls your life besides yourself. if you want to do something in life, there's no force in the world that dictates wether you will do something one way or another.

I think that fate exsits but sometimes it is used incorrectly. Like for example, people say that "it was fate" when something bad happens because they dont want to blame or take responsibiliy for their actions. I think that we can change our fate as well. We can change it by making decisions on things and it is up to that person and no one else. it can be up to others if that person does everything that they are told to do whether it be good or bad. our future isnt written out for us, we can change it. Like selena said it is "never ever set in stone".

I believe that fate deffinately exists. Fate is a very powerful thing and I think that when we look back at any moment in our lives we can see how fate has its ways. I have had experience with fate in my life many times and strongly beleive in fate and the fact that every thing happens for a reason. Fate is not set and can be changed at any time no matter what. I believe in it and I love to see it in the second sequal to back to the future. (my favorite movie). They show that by the way things changed when they went back into the future it changed the morern 1985 for Doc any Marty. Fate had a big role in this concept.

i think...that i dont have a definite opinion about things like this. i suppose i'm a kind of person that needs to know why things happen, and that it cant be "just because." its hard for me to accept a vague answer like it all happens for a reason. what is that reason? i do think that we decide what happens in our lives, and that its not something that someone else is controlling. we do what we want, and those actions results in other actions and events. im not sure that there can be a reason for everything that goes on in this life.
