Power

I have been watching the power dynamics that abound within society.  We see power shifts everyday.  These emerge in our relationships.  We create hierarchies between men and women; we create power imbalances between strangers.  These power shifts ultimately result in one person positioning themselves higher.

Look at Hamlet.  How do we see power emerge and who demonstrates that power?  Who is rendered powerless?  What is the result of the role of power in Hamlet?

In Hamlet, power is given to the character, Hamlet. This power is the power of fear and danger. Hamlet learns that his father was murdered by Claudius and has attempted to hide the murder. Claudius now had power of the country. Hamlet shows that he knows about the murder through a play. The play put fear into Claudius and Hamlet knows that Claudius is now going to try to kill Hamlet. Later on, Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius by mistaking Polonius as the King. Now, Hamlet has the power of death.at that moment, Claudius was stripped from his power of fear and death. Hamlet is no longer afraid. In a fearful reaction, Hamlet was sent to England to die. At the end, power is shown to corrupt the two characters. Hamlet escapes and returns home. If Hamlet did not have the power to escape back home, Hamlet would have been killed. So was Claudius's power to enlist Leartes to fight Hamlet when Hamlet returned. In the end, all three characters died which would have been prevented without the character's initial power. In the end, Power lead the characters to death, defining that power has the upper hand in any dispute and no man will win.

Power emerges through Hamlet in the play. Once he learns his father was murdered Hamlet starts to put things into play. He sets up a play to quietly let Claudius know Hamlet knows the truth, now that he has done that Claudius becomes fearful and tries to cover his tracks. But Hamlet beleiving he is working for a higher power does not care he is going to murder the king and it doesn't matter who stands in Hamlets way. The power shifts between characters as Claudius sends Hamlet to England to be killed and when that fails convinces Leartes to kill Hamlet but in the power struggle they all die so no one ends up holding the power in the end.

The person with the real power is Hamlet. He has everyone fooled, they think he is crazy and could not cause a threat. But, he uses this to advantage and starts to plot the demise of his uncle. The murder of his father is what gave Hamlet his power, he comes to him has a ghost and he learn information no one thinks he knows. Hamlet starts to construct his play to let his family know that he is on to them and he is a bigger threat then they had originally thought. He is able to escape the king's death sentence for him and return back to the kingdom. Claudius thinks he is able to control Hamlet, when he has the real control. In the end, Hamlet is able to avenge the death of his father and kill Claudius, but it results in his death as well, along with his mother and Laretes. Through this power struggle you are able to learn the moral, never underestimate the power of one individual.

In the beginning of the play, it's easy to see how King Claudius holds all of the power within the kingdom. Power is what drove him to murder his own brother in cold blood. Hamlet feels powerless in the start of the play because he feels an overwhelming amount of betrayal and shame. Throughout the play is when we see the switch in power. After Hamlet throws his play which tells the king about the knowledge of his crime, Hamlet begins to taste the power he ultimately ends up with. Knowing that he is creating fear within his uncle is what brings out the struggle for power between both of them. Along with control, power also brings greed. It becomes so important that it consumes the lives of those who desire it. This is what destroys both of them in the end.

Power is both given and taken away quite suddenly in Hamlet.Claudius ascends to the throne quickly after the murder of the king, Hamlet is filled with deadly power and rage after his father's ghost appears to him, and Laertes is given power over Hamlet's existence by Claudius in order to bring about his death. Power is taken away just as easily, both by blades, poison, or the puttings away of murderous intent. All together, power seems to lead only to destruction, excepting Horatio, who has the power of the story-teller and the one entrusted with the task of telling Hamlet's life to the audience.

King Claudius takes over the throne after he kills King Hamlet. He now has an immense amount of power over all of the characters involved. However, Hamlet soon finds out about who murdered his father and is told to seek revenge. This is where we see the emergence of power; through the play, where Hamlet tries to get Claudius to admit to his horrible act. The king ends up walking out due to the great amount of guilt he feels. This scene in the play is what leads to a decrease in the amount of power Claudius feels over others. Now, the roles switch and Hamlet has the power and Claudius no longer does. Now, Laertes is thrown into the mix and all three of them are fighting for power. In the end, all three of them (King, Hamlet and Laertes) are poisoned and killed and all remain powerless.

In Hamlet the power shifts from one brother to another. Power drives Claudius to poison his brother, King Hamlet, so he could replace him as ruler of Denmark. Claudius demonstrates his power when he request that Hamlet is killed by the ruler of England. Hamlet realizes how Claudius achieved his power and plotted to take it back. Eventually the thirst for power leads to the death of all but two.

In the beginning, King Claudius has the power in the kingdom. The power he had drove him to kill his own brother. Hamlet felt powerless in the beginning of the play because he felt shame and betrayal. Throughout the play we see a shift in who has the power. Hamlet has a play to let his family know that he knows of The kings plan. The king tries to send hamlet to England to have him killed, but he ends up escaping the kings plan, and returns back to the kingdom. Claudius tried to control hamlet, but hamlet actually controls Claudius. In the end, hamlet gets revenge for his father, but it results in killing himself, along with his mother and laertes. This is what ends up destroying both of them in the end.

At the beginning of the play Claudius has the power, because he killed his own brother to become the new king. This slowly fades as Hamlet went from powerless to powerful, by making the play to anger his uncle. He creates this power by showing that Claudius is nothing but a murderer and untrustworthy. Power is what leads to the death of Hamlet, the queen, Claudius, and Laertes. Power is the ultimate destroyer of life, because everyone wants to be all powerful over others.

Power emerges through Hamlet during the play. His father's ghost appears and tells him that he must seek revenge on his uncle, because he is the one who murdered him. He creates a play to trigger Claudius's emotions. He begins to realize that he can manipulate people in any way he chooses to. He then gets more powerful when he blindly kills Polonius, because then he knows that he has the power to kill. Then, he expands his power to kill when he indirectly kills Rosencrantz and Guildenstern by switching the execution letters. At the end, Hamlet kills Claudius and Laertes, in which he also ends up dying. The moral of Hamlet's power struggle is that no matter how much power one has, everyone is still a mortal.

In Hamlet power exists in two ways in which their society functions. One part of this is the difference is royalty vs civilians. The other is the hierarchy between men and women where the men are dominant and women serve them. These remain constant but power that exists in relationships and information fluxes. I say information because which ever character knows what's going on manipulates everyone else. Hamlet has the power most of the time manipulating everyone into thinking he is crazy then find out all the secrets about his father's death. His father then held power for a bit discovering the plan to be killed then to set a plan to kill hamlet. Everything changed after the duel and the power went to fortinbras because he becomes king while Hamlet is killed.

Power is emerged through Hamlet in the play. After the death of his father, Hamlet felt that he deserved the power. King Claudius was his competition for the power. They both are greedy about it because they both want power. King Claudius requests that Hamlet gets killed so that he is able to obtain power. Their greediness leads to the death of both characters.

The first time that power is created in a person in Hamlet is when Hamlet finds out that his father was murdered. Because he suspects the newly appointed king, his uncle, he uses anger to focus on taking him down. Unfortunately Hamlet mistakes Polonius for the king and kills him with a blade. This takes the power of life away from Polonius and gives Hamlet the power of death. Later, when Ophelia dies, Hamlet is given another power; the power of depravity. With this newfound mixture of anger, death, and depravity, Hamlet goes on a rampage and kills Laertes, the King, and even himself as a result. So in the end the one that was given power was the one to also take it away by his own doing.

Towards the beginning of the play the person who held power was Claudius. He rose as a result of killing his brother in order to gain control of Denmark and to marry the Queen. However in the middle of the play Hamlet started to gain power. This is because he used the play to show Claudius he knew what he had done and to gain control over him. As a result of this Claudius had lost his power and wanted revenge on Hamlet for causing him to lose it. The result of power in Hamlet was death. Both Hamlet and Claudius wanted the other dead so that they could have the power. This power struggle caused almost every character in the book to be killed because to Claudius' and Hamlet's actions.

Power plays a huge role in shaping the plot of Hamlet. Throughout the play the power that Hamlet is capable of starts to greatly worry King Claudius. Claudius becomes aware of what Hamlet's intentions are and he knows Hamlet has the power to do so. Claudius uses his own power to send Hamlet off to England and have him killed before Hamlet can spread the truth about Claudius. When Polonius is mistakenly murdered by Hamlet he was rendered powerless. Polonius was to spy on Hamlet and the Queen's conversation and was stabbed because Hamlet thought he was Claudius. Overall the power displayed in "Hamlet" led to multiple deaths and showed the idea of how the power of a single man can impact dozens of lives.

After Claudius kill King Hamlet and becomes the king himself, Claudius seemingly becomes the most powerful character. Him and most of the other characters in the play also make Hamlet seem more and more powerless the "crazier" he becomes. Little do they know that it is all just an act. Hamlet actually becomes more powerful by making everyone else think he is becoming weaker. In the end though, the power struggle between Hamlet and Claudius, Polonius and Hamlet, and many other characters makes the play tragic because the fight for power leads to the deaths of almost every main character in the play.

In Hamlet, power is given to multiple characters. One that really sticks out is the power given to Hamlet after the ghost of his father tells him to get revenge on the King. Hamlet knows that the King poisoned his father without even giving him a chance to fight for his own life. Hamlet then sets up a play within the play to let the King know that he knows the truth on how his father really died. After this Hamlet ends up killing Polonius giving himself more power with the King knowing what he is capable of. The King then becomes fearful and sends him away to England. Throughout the whole play Hamlet has some sorce of power.

First we see power shift from the old king to the new king claudius. Towards the end of the book Hamlet takes control. He takes control to avenge his fathers death. The kind is rendered powerless because his actions don't follow through when he wanted hamlet killed in england. With the power in hamlet nobody will win. Power in Hamlet makes you corrupt.

The theme of power plays a major role in the development of Hamlet. When Hamlet's father is murdered by Claudius, Claudius assumed power in the kingdom, rendering the ghost of the King powerless. The ghost then tells Hamlet to avenge his death, which eventually leads Hamlet to take Claudius' power away from him. When Claudius finds out that Hamlet is planning to kill him, he plans to kill Hamlet in order to keep the power that he has. In the end, they both die, rendering them both powerless. This role of power caused tension and fighting within Hamlet, which led to everyone's deaths.

In Hamlet, the main character Hamlet is the one who has the power taken. He wins it back in the end however, by avenging his fathers murder by killing his uncle. He demonstrates his power by the play he uses to manipulate his uncle to see his guilt. hamlet has his power taken when he is killed by Leartes.

King Claudius has the power in the play. He kills King Polonius which allows him to take over the thrown. These two actions allow him to get into Hamlet's head. Hamlet's actions are all based off of him trying to get revenge on his uncle for his father's ghost. Well he would have never seen his father's ghost if Claudius didn't have the power in the first place. Deaths occurred because of actions that are from Claudius' power. It's all a big dominos effect. Women, such as the Queen and Ophelia are left powerless. They just go with the flow. Ophelia does what her father tells her to do when dealing with the Hamlet situation. When he father is killed, she goes crazy. She has no depth to her to do anything other than go crazy which ends up leading to her death. Once again she's left powerless. Her drowning is a metaphor for everything bringing her down leaving her powerless. Power is dangerous. In Hamlet we see betrayal, revenge, and death from power.

we see power emerge in Hamlet. first he is without much power because of his uncle since he is the king. before he speaks with the post hamlet is lost, he doesnt really know who he is until he talks to his father as a ghost and that is when we start to see his power emerge with in him. we see the power swtich from claudius to hamlet and claudius remains power less while he sees his power to the thrown being taken down. in the end, power leads to the characters death. all the character that tried to retrieve more power (Hamlet, Claudis, Laertes and his mother), eventually died in the end. defining that death is the most power ful of all.

Power emerges with King Claudius. He essentially gains his power by marring the wife of his brother who he killed. Hamlet discovers that his uncle killed his father, and this is where power also emerges. He speaks with his fathers ghost, who wants Hamlet to seek revenge for him, and with this command Hamlet does everything he can think of to keep his word and avenge him. However, this power is short lived. In attempts to make King Claudius commit killing King Hamlet, a decrease in power is revealed. Hamlet plans a play which causes King Claudius to leave because he feels uncomfortable and powerless over the play and the audience. Later on Laertes becomes involved. He wants to kill Hamlet just as much as King Claudius for the accidental death of his father. In the end they all fight over the power present, but unfortunately the idea of revenge and power get the best of them and they all killed by one another.

In the beginning of the story the King holds the power. this is because he has killed Hamlets father and Hamlet is aware of this. Then there is a scene that is a play where Hamlet tries to win back that power. He tries to win back this power by killing Polonius. Hamlet did this to basically show the king what he is capable of. In the end, Hamlet ends up holding the power.

In the play Hamlet, power is contained in King Claudius and in Hamlet himself. Claudius may have the power of the country after killing Hamlet's father but Hamlet has the true power of mystery because he fools and tricks everyone that tries to get to him. Both powers lead to a struggle of power with in in the end both of Hamlets power of anger and Claudius's absolute power leads to both of their deaths.

In the play, Hamlet holds all the power. It does not start out this way though. At first Claudius holds all the power, until Hamlet finds out about that it was his uncle who murdered his father. He knows the truth behind his father's death and has everyone fooled. In the end, even though he dies, he gets his revenge. He is able to harm his uncle and convince him to drink poison. He manipulates his uncle and renders his powerless. In the end it results in everyone, including Claudius and Hamlet's death.

In Hamlet we see power struggle in the first act of the play from the scene of the burial of Hamlets father when his uncle Claudius inherits the key to the throne. Hamlet is powerless until he finds out that Claudius murdered his father. Hamlet knows something that could ruin Claudius. The quest for revenge from both of the characters ends up with no good. Innocent people had to be killed from wanting power such as Leartes. Everyone ended up dying in the end just because Claudius had to ruin it for everyone and try to have all the power in the land and he could have gotten away with it if it wasn't for Hamlet.

We see power emerge in Hamlet. This power emerges because his father gets poisoned and Hamlet is left to avenge his father and make up for what King Claudius did to him. He is then left to finish off Polonius who he thought was the King, and eventually kills Laertes as well. The King in the end is rendered powerless along with the queen because she drinks the poison on accident, and the King is forced to drink the poison and killed by Hamlet. The result by the demand for power is death to all who desire that power. Horatio survives because he did not possess the greed for power like the others.

We see a power very early on in the play when the power of King changed after Hamlet's father died, and power is given to Cladius. We also see power given to Hamlet after he s told that King Cladius murdered his father. After this occurrence, Hamlet knew he had the power to get revenge on the new king for killing his father. He had the power of knowing the truth when no one else did. The King s rendered powerless when his plan to kill Hamlet backfires and he, along with many others end up dead in the end. Power in Hamlet led to many deaths, and the occurrence of many unexpected events.

Power starts off in king Claudius's hands. He has just overtaken the throne and controls most. Then Hamlet gains the power when his father's ghost appears to him. A fight for power then occurs between the two characters. Claudius loses some power when Hamlet reveals that he knows the truth through the play. At the end if the play all of the characters lose their power because their own selfish wants for power end up killing them all.

Power is first shown when Hamlet's mother marries the dead king's brother, making Claudius the new king. Hamlet has resentment between both his mother and his uncle for the decision to marry. Hamlet's resentment causes a battle between the family, and king Claudius fears Hamlet has gone crazy. The king tries to send Hamlet away in fear of his death and loss of his thrown, but this selfishness turns into them both dying.

In Hamlet, the power starts when King C takes over the thrown. Once Hamlet sees his fathers ghost he gets the power to do something about it.Eventually everyone looses power because they end up all dying.

In Hamlet, the power in royalty is passed from Hamlet's father to his brother King Claudius. Claudius gains power when he kills his brother to gain the throne. Hamlet doesn't want him to have power so he tries to do as his father wishes and kills him at the end of the play. All power seems to be gone at the end when Claudius, Hamlet, the Queen, and Laertes die.
