Writing

We write more than ever.

Writing is defined as: 1 : the act or process of one who writes: as a : the act or art of forming visible letters or characters; specifically : handwriting 1 b : the act or practice of literary or musical composition 2 : something written: as a : letters or characters that serve as visible signs of ideas, words, or symbols b : a letter, note, or notice used to communicate or record c : a written composition d : inscription 3 : a style or form of composition 4 : the occupation of a writer; especially : the profession of authorship.

Think of all of the ways you write throughout the day. What genres or styles do you use? When do you know to change the style. List five ways that you write everyday.

I do a lot of writing. I text my friends and family. I hand write my grocery lists. I type my status on Facebook or Twitter. I Journal daily. I write comments on my students' essays, on recipes, and in my daughter's agenda.

You use writing literally 24/7 because i think that you don't need to physically write something for it to be considered writing. I think that writing is having an idea like for instance just thinking of an idea and using it. Scientists are an example because they think of an idea and they make an expieriment out of it and all of the information collected that is either WRITTEN down or mentally written down it is useful information. I write when i get assignments, I write when my parents give me a chore, andi even write when i learn something new. My writing is diferent though my writing is like, I have a pen and paper in my head and whatever i want to write down i write it down in my head people call it a mental note but i call it a list of endless possibilites.

I write alot. I hand write letters to cousins, I type posts on facebook, I write for hours at school then I go home and write for homework my homework, I keep a jurnal that I write in almost every day, I write short storys to entertain my self, I write descriptions or directions sometimes when I am having a family member watch a pet or plant while i am away... i write almost all day long. Among many other reasons, if one would need to communicate with someone far away they'd need to know how to write or type to send letters or emails because it is alot cheaper then long distence calling. It is important to learn to write because it is a big form of comunication, talking can only get a person so far in comunication. Teachers need to write daily plans and write to grade papers, doctors need to give written instructions to nurses, in every job the people are required to write.

I write in many ways in a day. I write with shorten words with text. I also use longer and more wide vocabulary when I writeing to releitives. When people call I only write some of the important things they said. I also write what I am gonna do for the day so I can stay organized.

From the age of five, I should think, writing is progressively used, and added to as one grows older.

When feeling thoughtful while applying eyeliner, I'll scribble a love-note to my mommy or someone else on the mirror I am in front of- or simply scrawl a cheesy slogan through the mist on the bathroom mirror after my morning shower. In my Brunswick High School agenda, I'll record assignments, both completed and needed. When at home, I will either compose a letter to a close-friend or communicate on myspace, facebook, e-mail, etc.. Some sort of social-communication. In almost every class, spare gym, study-halls, and lunch, I am at work with the pencil, collecting notes, organizing an essay, writing a reminder, or recording a math tip. I also use writing when I read my novels; remarking as needed, and exclaiming a final conclusion.

Writing has a set of official genres- but when not in language, and when using writing in everyday life, there is two ultimate genres, in my opinion: the professional writing genre, and not so professional writing genre. The professional is used in school work, while the other is used at home, so on so forth.

I write a lot in one day. I crazily write the notes in my classes to get them all down. As of now, I'm writing this message at my keyboard thinking of what to say. For homework I'm writing a confusing way, the spanish language. I scribble messages only readable by me on my hand if I have something really important to remember. I also make lists, whether for what gifts I want for my birthday, or supplies I need at the store, or pros and cons of decisons I'm making.

I write in many ways every single day. I write when I do my homework, or even take notes in class. I also write down when I need to make a note for myself or someone else. Most importantly though, I write in my agenda everyday to remind myself what I need to do. Writing is an important part of my day and I would be impossible to live without it.

I use writing in many different ways everyday. 1. I write or type essays and reports. 2. I take notes in class or whenever else I need to. 3. I text people using a cell phone. 4. I email family and friends. 5. I write notes to my friends. When I actually think about it, I write in different styles and fonts everyday and I don't even notice it! It was easy to think of five different ways I use writing.

The Ways I Write
1. I write when I do my homework. It could be a worksheet, a rough draft of an essay, or flashcards.
2. I email at least one person a day. So I write emails.
3. I write lists: things I need to do, things I need, things I want for my birthday or christmas, a song I want to buy off iTunes, etc.
4. I write down things for my mom, such as phone numbers, email addresses, grocery lists, etc.
5. I also write down things when I study such as definitions or facts. I also take notes at school.

Genres?
The genres I use are responses, poems, letters, essays, narratives, and stories. It depends on what I am writing and what it is for. We get all types of assignments in Language Arts, which is where most of my genres come from. If I am taking a test, I may have to write an essay. Otherwise it is a regular paragraph or sentences. Or I may write a poem or story if I feel created. Also if my friend emails me and wants me to send them a poem, then I will write or re-type a poem. Or I may write a friendly letter or business letter/ email.

I know when to change the genre because I know which genre goes with which topic or type of writing, especially if it is a school assignment.

I write from the time class starts to the time it ends when we take notes from the overhead in health. I also text my friends after school and before school. I update my status on myspace, and edit my profile. I write answers to questions on my homework for my classes. Another way i write is when i have to leave notes for my mom when she is sleeping for work and i have to go somewhere after school. I also write when i write out problems for math on the chalkboard when we go over homework.

Unknown said...

Throughout my day, I write a lot. I do worksheets and homework which require breif and formal writing, and I also write in my agenda lists of homework or events going on daily. I handwrite the lists. I type essays for school which are longer and carefully looked through. I correct my reports, and proof-read my work. I also, leave notes for my parents to tell them where I am going. Finally, I write reminders to myself, and I write cards to friends. I know when to change styles of writing based on who is reading it, if it is for me or someone else, and if it is important or for a grade.

Every day we go through constant forms of writing such as typing and blogging which is what we're doing right now. This is only one type of writing which I do almost every day. I would text to anybody, to know what's going on in the world. Who doesn't write notes? We got school notes, we got pass around notes. How much is that, 3 genres? Okay, I also write whatever pops into my head, my visions, if you'd like to call them, in a book. Last but not least I make up new music and present them to my band in the old country for us to play in concerts. There are many forms of writing; these are just my most common.

I write in several ways during the day. One of them literal writing, such as answering a problem. Another is writing as in an essay. Everyday when I get home, I play guitar, so I write music with that. I can write things such as statuses(?) to express my feeings or thoughts. Lastly, I can write via the computer, sharing things through this blog or something similar.

I used to write constantly, nonstop but recent events have changed that. Plus, between band and school I have no free time to write unless it's for homework, and I barely get that done. I write down answers in german, definitions and equations in geometry. I write down thoughts and ideas I have throughout the day on a scrap piece of paper, but usually lose it. When I get home I sometimes write in a journal, or songs or poetry. Even though I don't consider texting writing I do much of that. I do school/homework, I write down recipes for new foods to try and make, I make a list for just about everything. I don't get much of a chance to email or anything, and I don't consider that writing anyway. I think that people need to write more, because with all the new technology it is becoming a lost art.

I use writing every day. I use it to text, which is not really a style. If anything it's slang. i use writing in LANGUAGE ARTS. In that wonderful, terrific, fun class we usually write essays and responses. In spanish I use writing to describe things. In History I write essays mostly. In Science I usually list things when I write. I also write short paragraphs to explain things. And lastly, in Math I use a listing style of writing. I use writing in tons of other ways too but those are the styles that I use on a daily basis.

I know when to change the way I'm writing because if it's a note to a friend I can write without using puctuation correctly and things like that but when I'm writing an assignment or essay I know to capatalize the write words, use punctuation, indent paragraphs, and spell correctly. I write in a narrative form when I'm writing a stroy, free writing when I'm writing notes or letters to people, non fiction when I do current event reports for spanish, and also fiction when I'm writing essays.

To me writing is just an essential thing. I write notes to my friends and to myself. I do this almost everyday but not as often as in school. When I text its considered writing and when I talk to people on myspace thats writing too, which is what I enjoy doing a lot outside of school. Also in LA we do journals which is also another way of writing. Writing is an everyday thing for me.

i use writing with my music all the time, not necessarily writing down compositions, but just basically playing scales in a certain rythm or coming up with a way to perfect your embouchure. really anything in music is literature, which leaves fifty percent of it as writing. writing can also be just coming about a new idea, like a creation. isn't that what writing is? i don't know how women and slaves used to live without writing, i know i couldn't.

I couldn't live without being able to write. It gives me the opportunity to create my own world on the paper giving me the ability to show myself what I really think about and if it makes any sense. As for others, without writing we would know absolutely nothing. Humans without writing is comparable to a sponge without the ability to absorb water. Think about the consequences of writing. We know about our past. We can update and correct things that are debatable with history. Present day we use this to keep track of our thoughts and to be graded in class. Without writing we would be lost. Writing is necessary for existence and for peace of mind. We would be lost without it.

Ok...so I write alot every day. Between homework and free time, writing is a fundamental part of my everyday life.
I begin my day by, usually, writing what I want to do that day on a notepad. Then, I almost always write at school.
After school is out, I write when doing my homework. Next, I usually go on the computer and jot down little bits
and peices of information that I think will end up being useful. Finally, when I am on the computer, I use writing
when I am searching for something on Google, typing a word document, or, as today, posintg in a blog.

I try to write only when necessary. When i text I usually try to make things short and to the point considering I have a limited number of characters I can use. When writing notes in class I try to get as much information down as possible, meaning I have to change my handwriting in order to make everything fit. When writing an essay or working on school papers, I choose my words carefully and try to elongate my sentences. I write down my homework assignments in nice, short lists in my agenda. Also, I update my myspace status constantly.

I never really realized how much I write. I text all day, but that's not proper grammer or anything; it's just quick and easy. I post on my myspace, and facebook pages. Before my mom goes to the grocery store, and I want something special to eat I add what I want to her extravagantly long list. During school I take so many notes it's unbelievable, especially in history. I also write when I read. Just this year I started, and it has been helpful. Constantly I am at work on paper. I've never noticed how much I write.
