Holiday Season

The holiday season is my favorite time of year. It is the one time when the music is positive, heart warming, and beautiful. Anger disappears from the music and so does judgement. I love the colors--the gold, red, green, and silver--sparkling in every direction our eyes travel. The traditional Christmas movies filled with pasted on smiles, and cliches, warm my spirit when I sit with my girls on the couch passing on memories.

Shopping might be my favorite. I find tremendous pleasure in buying for others. No one looks at me weirdly when I give them a gift or a card. They do not ask "why" or "what's wrong." I am permitted to give. Even though the stores are crowded, the lines long, the people grumpy, and the traffic crazy, the hum of a familiar song makes me hum to myself while smiling like an idiot.

This is the time of year when we can see the world of possibilities; this is when we see the good in people that sometimes hibernates during other seasons. I encourage to think about all of the best parts of the holiday season. Besides getting gifts, what makes you love this time of year or dislike this time of year?

When I think of the holidays the words that come to mind are "It's a Wonderful Life," sugar cookies, Trans Siberian Orchestra, family, "Yes, Virginia There is A Santa Claus," ribbon, giggles, and angels.

What do you think? What string of holiday items weave their way through your memories?

I know I said that I would not post, but I feel the need to.

I agree with Mrs. Perrin, it is the most wonderful time of the year. I have fun singing to familiar christmas songs on the radio and putting up decorations at my grandmas. It only comes once a year so I think we should enjoy it.

When i think of Christmas, a lot of words and images pop into my mind. I think, of course, of red, green, gold and silver. There is one thing that i think most of and that is snow. i love the snow! i love being nice and warm in a blanket, with a fire in the hearth and hot chocolate by your side and The Lord of the Ring trilogy in your hand. I dont know why but when i think Christmas i think Lord of the Rings. I think the reason that i think of this is because of the snow. Most of the lotr scenes are in snowy weather. i really love being cold in the snow. Also how the snow sparkles when the sun hits it and how the freshly fallen snow looks so pure and untouched. I love going sledding, the wind whipping your soggy wet hair up out of your face, while you are trying to hold on for dear life to the sled. i can go on and on about Christmas, but you are probably bored now.
Merry Christmas to all and to all good night!!! be good for santa!! hee hee!!

Alright, I guess I have to post since it's about Christmas. Well I love the time I get to spend with my family, My mom's homemeade from scratch cookies, and three wekks off of school isn't bad either. Presents are good, too :]. I also love having my annual Christmas party with justa few of my friends. I only invited people from my old school because we all want to catch up. I lovewhen they open their gift at the gift exchange, their face just lights up, that's my favorite part. Me and my sister are really close and I love shopping for her. It's funny because any of the presejnts my dad won't let her get (say the new Lil Wayne CD?) she knows I'll still get it for her. Words that come to my mind are holly, lights, cookies, family, and the thought of just me, my sister and my dad (and my dog) at night opening our last batch of Christmas presents (we have three or four each Christmas :]). For me, this is the best time of the year.

*Happy Holidays*

Mrs. Perrin,
The holiday seaon is my absolute favorite time of year. Every year I count down until Christmas break, and I cannot wait until it comes each year. :) The best part is not the gifts but just being with my family. The house smells nice, everyone is warm and you can see all your relatives and spend time with them. We play games and eat a wonderful dinner.
The best part is, is that you don't have to think about anything but being happy. You don't have to worry about school, sports or daily responsibiliites. For once in your life you can just have fun.
Times like Christmas make you think about how thankful you are for everything that life gives you esp. your family. Getting gifts and giving them is just the icing on the cake!

When christmas comes, I usually think about my family. For most winter holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas my family come over my house to celebrate because my sister and my birthday's are both around those holidays. I usually think of the warm kitchen with great smells coming from it! During those holidays my Mom usually bakes and cooks some foods that she specifically makes for these holidays. Christmas is usally the most colorful holiday in my house. I think of Christmas as the colors red and green since that mostly what is seen during this holiday.

Many things pop into my head when i think of the holidays and Chritmas. I think of cookies, christmas trees, lights, shopping, stockings, presents, spending time with family, and snow.

Well first off, your examples of traffic light paragraphing is getting worse. Now it's backwards and instead of red you now have orange. Maybe sometime you should try, you know, making the colors the colors of the holiday season, like red, green, gold and silver; you know, just like you mentioned. So anyways let me get on with it.

I like the holiday season too, probably because of the presents, you feel good because you get presents, but you don't feel guily because you gave presants. Well, thats just for me. I'm sure there are many people out there who only care about getting, so do you know what I want to say to those heartless africa haters. I WANT TO SAY SOMETHING VERY BAD, BUT MY SHIFT KEY SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE BIT LOCKEDzszz...NOzzzzxzNO STICKY SHIFT. OH well. Hey I got it.

Anyways, I know that christmas time for christans may be a little bit different. They go more for a little bit more celebrating for jesus's birthday that celebrating giving. My family goes more for the feeling of giving. I also know that the Jewish people light candles and spin dradles, which is also one I don't celebrate as much. Even the people in africa celabrate quanza. I don't know what quanza is about but I'll bet it's different than my tradition.

Now I guess it's time for the final question that I have been waiting to adress: IS SANTA CLAUS REAL? Hmmmmmm. lets think. Alright I think he is real. For example, my parents claimed to be in a financail hault last year and said that they wouldn't get us any presents, but guess what was under the tree last year. OH YEAH! EXPLAIN THAT! SANTA CLAUS IS MORE REAL THAN PAUL MCCARTNEY...AND HE'S DEAD! Hmmmmmm...that last sentance didn't make sense...OH Well. Soooooooooooooooo...Yeah. I bet ya none of you can prove santa's non-existance. I even bet that you have proof backing his existance so BRING IT ON!!!

Ever since I was a child my family would always travel everywhere around Ohio on Christmas Eve to go see relatives. I can remember the whole family comming together and the laughs and giggles of everyone there. It was the time of year where everyone caught up about their lives and what they had been up to throughout the whole year. I always see a tree with lights when i think of Christmas. Mostly an artifical tree do to my family only buying them. I always liked Christmas. Let alone all the stress the holidays give. Most people see Christmas as a wonderful holiday but most of the time Christmas is full of stress and tiredness. I personally love the Christmas movies that always come on TBS every year. I just hope the Christmas will always stay the same... Just maybe with less stress [=

First off this topic is kinda Narrow i mean i cant really argue or make smart remarks on this blog. When I think of Christmas I think of Christmas trees decortated all sorts of ways. I also think of presents and food on Christmas Day. I also think of a huge party. Christmas also makes people get pretty crazy. Thats what i think of when i think of Christmas.

P.S. I really didint like this topic because i can't start an arguement or make smart remarks :(

Christmas, well first off as a kid I never liked chrismas, to me it was just a time to make a fool of myself by getting gifts but never giving them. I'm one of those people that gets really bother when I recieve and item but don't have one to give back. Especially when I think the item I have is better then the one I gave. I love the sense of buying things for people but it has to be from the heart, it can't be "Here's a list of what I want". That to me is distrust, you chould be able to think that I'll give you something good.

Chistmas is not environmentally-friendly. More people have more lights and it wastes electricity. Also, more factories make more stuff and use more electricity that way, and more people have their heaters on and waste electricity that way, and more cars are used because you can't ride your bike, which wastes gas, and more traffic lights have to be turned on because more cars are being used, and plows have to spray salt on the roads which poisons rivers, and more people get sick and throw up in the toilet and have to use more water that way, and also more electric trains get used to go around trees. All these things combine to form a really un-environmentally-friendly season.

Don't get me wrong, though. I love christmas and agree with everything Mrs. Perrin said.

Merry christmas!

Waste all the electricity you want!

Christmas, is too, one of my favorite times of year. Everyone always seems to be jolly, and if you say hello to someone walking down, the street, unlike a usual day, they smile and say hello back, as if they really wanted to. Most people think of gifts, music, family, good food, jolly spirits, when Christmas comes to mind, and well that was similar for me as well. But then I went to chuch last week, this is a phenomenal church, in which it is very alternative, and relatable. The service was about the real meaning of Christmas, and the theme was called "Advent Conspiracy" it really was phenmomenal, the point is to conspire with the group, and act in as holy of a way as possible, since well Jesus is the true reason for christmas. I've thought about that. So now my thoughts on christmas have changed.

The Holidays are a wonderful time of year indeed. Being agnostic I don't believe in God so the REAL reason of Chirstmas is almost oblivious to me. But I celebrate it (and other religious holidays) as just a way to stop the rest of my life for a moment and be with my family. When I hear "Christmas" I think of gingerbread men and busy streets (Why the gingerbreadmen I haven't the slightest...) But every year since I was about 4 me and my sister Elaine go Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. Yes, December 24th. Why, I don't know but it's something I always look forward to. This time of year is always just a time to coexist however... I think that's another thing I really like about the holidays.

I hate the holiday seasons. I mean, that you have to give gifts just because of the time of year. And then the feeling bad that comes with gift giving because you feel bad if you spend too much or if the other person doesn't like your gift. I feel the same way about birthdays. Why not enjoy gift giving 'round the year? And it would make people all the more giddy with joy if you gave them a gift just to give them a gift(against what Mrs. P said)

Christmas, I love it. The food, the family, the no school for two weeks. There's just something magic about it. It's the only holiday i ever wake up on with a special feeling inside. Not valentines, Easter, not even my birthday can compare to christmas. and I love our family traditions, like the one on my my moms side. One christmas we all decided not to buy gifts, instead we found things in our house to give away. I wound up with a tissue box with twenty bucks inside! and also the coconut! Funny story about that. A long time ago someone gave a coconut as a gift. Then that person gave it back. From then on it is passed from family member to family member as a present. It's the funniest tradition ever. Well i hope everyone has an awesome Christmas vacation (who cares about political correctness?)and have a Merry Christmas.

Also check out this cool holiday video. My mom loves it.

I love Christmas! Just the excitment of seeing others open your gifts to them, and see their eyes brighten is overwhelming sometimes!
Also I love the seasonal baking stuff. Like colourful brownies and cupcakes.

Then all the christmas songs, and "Santa" at the mall, it's really soothing *failing at the right adjectives at them moment*
Then the christmas lightsss~ It's all just so awesome at the same time >u<

When I hear people talking about Christmas and how they are going out to see family and going to get alot of presents. I usually would agree with them, but I mostly think about the change that has happen. The change from last year to this year usually crosses my mind. For example only a few years ago the ipod came out now they are introducing touch screen mp3 players and also laptops. This improvement all happened in a shourt time and shows the of this one year. Along with this I think of what I did last year. To spending time with family, to unwrapping the large amounts of presents i got. I usually think of what I may get this year and how it will far over come the gifts from last year. Along with these thoughts I usually think about the food. From the sweet glazed honey smoked ham to the refreshing cheeze cake. These foods can bring me to life any time no matter what time of year it is, but when it is christmas i get to share this with family. That is probably the most important thing is that i get to be with my family.

I love how at Christmas time everyone is so nice and giving. they all drop their grouchiness and become friends. I also love how people decorate. It's really pretty and fun to see how outrageous some of it looks. No one is mean to eachother this time of year and fights are rare. Everyone lends a hand and tries to help. The spirit is very upilifting. When you think of the memories you have collected, some of the best ones are the one that happened this time of year.

Shopping is crazy. I would not recommend it. I went to the mall yesterday to get some stuff for presents. Ya...it was PACKED!! There was like no room towalk in any store you went to. I mean sure, there are a lot of sales blah bla blah but i advise you to buy presents before the holidays start!! hah.

The songs are awesome. If you sing it any other time of the year, unless you are one of my friends, you get strange looks. this time a year, people feel a strange urge to sing along. It's kind of cool and creepy at the same time.

Well that's enough for this post. Sorry if it is late. I forgot we had a post up..
Happy Holidays y'all lol
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good Night!!!! oh and happy Kwanza and Khunuhkuh. I spelled them wrong. sorry :)
