Justice

Justice is suppose to be blind. A statue is erected in front of many court houses with a woman holding a scale that is balanced and her eyes are blind folded. Often times I wonder if there are small pin holes in the blind fold and the scale is tipped in favor of, sometimes, the wrong side.

Examples of justice being doled out are found in all facets of daily life. We see examples where kids argue and one seeks justice for being wrongly accused. We see vigilante justice being executed in movies, books, and sometimes the stranger than fiction world we call life.

Think about books that you have read, songs you have heard, or moments when you have witnessed justice being ladled out onto the one who deserves it, the innocent or the unsuspecting. What does this look like? Is there such a thing as justice? Is she blind?

Please tread carefully and remember to respect each other and the individual opinions shared.

There is such a thing as justice. In many criminal cases, justice is there to save a person or to hurt them. Often times we all look for the justice in a person when we suspect them of a wrong doing. In the Harry Potter series there is always the controversy of justice. For example, in the sixth book nobody knew whether Snape was good or bad. Everyone was looking for justice in him and those around him. Justice is blind. We don't have it written on our foreheads, we have to test it from the heart. We can't look at a person to define justice, we must dig inside to understand them. If I had to choose a color for justice I would choose white because it is pure. When someone demands justice they wish from there soul to be proven innocent.

OK, Lets see, I think justice is a very powerful thing. People use what they think is justice as a motive to do something wrong. They think that someone, for example, a laywer, will always "get them off the hook" by just word and confession. When I think about court cases like that, I imagine how hard it must be for the Defense Attorney and the Prosecutor to correctly deal justice to the criminals/innocent. I do agree with Selena though, Justice is blind. No one is just given justice out of nowhere. Something interesting to think about again leads me to court again. When someone is on trial for a certain reason, they put their life in their Defence Attorney's hands. It is up to them to rightly deal justice in the correct manner.

I say Justice hasn't been served. I say this because people who murder one person and plead guilty they did they get a less of a sentence. People who murder someone and don't plead guilty get a higher sentence. This shows how unfair our "JUSTICE"center is. Also it depends on your race. Im not going to go into detail because if i did a huge arguement would sprout. Thats my opinion on Justice and how it hasn't been served

Hmmm... Justice.

Well first off, I believe Justice is not the same thing as fair. Justice is a little bit on the mean and hard core honest then fair. My example for justice has to be from nature. Alright, so it has been known that to live by an ocean, stream, creek is not the best area. It's because erosion, nature slowly takes back what is their's it gawulps the house and it's backyard bit by bit every year and when finally the land is a stream again, ta-da! Justice is served! Why do I think this as justice, it's because change happened in the area and bringing anything back to the orginal (as close to possible) is justice. As humans justice is not held in a blindfold, we lean towards one side or the other even if we don't mean too.

Justice today, like punk, is dead. Justice may have existed at one point in time but now "she" is dead and gone. I'm not directing this at the judiciary system of our country, but I am directing this at the general human race. I don't remember the last time I saw a shred of humanity in this world. We're mean, we discriminate and we all are paranoid. It's as simple as that. If justice were to come back somehow, she SHOULD be blind. But like Daisy said justice isn't the same thing as being fair. I cannot recall a single moment of justice in my life. I might've seen it once but I've seen so much more injustice to compensate for it.

I guess it is sort of true though but even if we are paranoid, it is just another reason that we should be thoughtful to other peoples opinions. Like a famous quote, "Its ok to feel sad sometimes." it definately not good to feel sad and paranoid all the time.

Justice... well there is one book that I can think of where justice and fairness is tested and definitly a main argument. That book is To Kill A Mocking Bird. In the stoy it is quite obvious that tom, the defendent is not guilty, but because he was black and the story took place during the great depression he was found guilty.
Justice is a hard thing to control. This is mostly because everyone has different opinions on right vs. wrong. Who are we to say if someone is innocent or guilty? Ib fact the only one who would really truly know would be the defendent, but even then their judgement of right and wrong could be different than ours. Justice isn't so much blind it's more unpredictable and unsure.

OK Andrew, I totally disagree with you. I think the death penalty is a great idea. It will humanely end someone's life that doesn't deserve to live at all. If we put everyone in jail, we would run out of jail space with half of them not deserving to live at all. I'm sorry but I think the death penalty is a effective thing to have.

Besides noone likes a humane death. Thats why they created the guillitine and the noose. They wanted public executions in the worst ways that they could think of. Tar and feathers, Noose, Guillitine, Burn at the stake, Pit of Lions, Gladiator games, etc...

I agree with Nicole. I see way more injustice than justice. Nowadays, people are so self-centered (back to the other post), that they only care about their justice and no one elses. Every post seems to bring me back to the idea of self-centered.

For a Doctor, you dont seem to know anything about how the mind works. Alkatraz was the best place for all the insanely murdurous people because there was no possible way to escape. Even today there is no possible way for any prisioners to escape. If you were put on an island 1/2 a mile from shore with sharks in the water inbetween you and land than i doubt that you would try to escape. This destroyed the prisioners mind and morale to try to escape. There was never a sucessful break-out from alcatraz because of these factors.

By the way justice seems to be able to see. If the officials are corrupt than there is no way that they are not working for themselves instead of the good of the people.

Yeah, I totaltly agree with Emily with the unsure and stuffies... Justice can be twisted and turned to be "justice" and for the public to believe that it's "justice" but it's really just a veiw on one side of the story. : D

First off, This is Tom. Andy took FOREVER to post his blog. That's an example of how unjust this world is. He's also racist, and so are court house statues. Anyways, it's all because he's older, I can feel it. Andy's such a ______ (insert word of choice). Anyways, I'm on a mission to annoy him to the point of schizophrenia. Al Gore was the vice president to Bill Clinton.He is a U.S. environmental activist, author, businessperson, former politician, Nobel Prize recipient, Emmy winner, and former journalist. However, he was treated unjustly. When he ran for president in 2000 and won. I mean lost. But that's only because Bush is a Cheapskate and stole the election. I mean, come on! Al gore even went to Vietnam against his will after graduating from Harvard. (By the way, I believe he has a bachelor's degree, and not a PHD.) Anyways, 500,000 more people wanted him to become president than George Bush, but he still lost by four electoral votes, and Bush only got 271. ARGGGGG! I'm furious! But, another way to think about it is that George Bush deserved to win because there's no way in _____ that Al Gore could have solved global warming. This is an example of justice being ladled out to Al Gore by the ladelful, even a big dipperful. This proves there is such thing as justice. Also, He/she is not blind, because if she was, Al Gore would've won. I don't even know if that makes sense, but oh well. A song that is unsust is "...And Justice For All" by Metallica. That there's a citation. Anyways, because it has the word "Justice" in it, I figured it has to be unjust.

Second, I do agree that the electoral collage should be revised in some way. That is an interesting thing to bring up. Al Gore should have won that election and earned justice from all.

wow. Time to enter this interesting argument. Fist off...Justice isn't fair because lets say you go to court, whether your guilty or not, the decision is up to the judge. If the judge makes a wrong decision, your screwed. That's not justice.
Justice is not always fair either. Like...if you did a minor crime like steal someones pencil, going to jail isn't fail. Not that that will ever happen but it was an example of how ludicris our judicial branch can work.

Ah.. Now about the death penalty. Somehow, i always end up agreeing with Bunting. In this case, I agree with both Bunting and Markus. I agree with Andrew in the sense that if you did a terrible crime, you should get deeply punished. WHy let the off the bat so easily by injecting them? I know the death penalty has been a lot less then it used to be and a lot less painful...but still. I think that if justice is really being fair, you should have to rot in jail for all eternity. I understand that the jails will get fuller but we can find a way to work aroud it. I also think the death penalty is kind of inhumane like what they did way back when like an eye for an eye. That's basically what Markus is saying. Your saying like if he kills so-and-so, then we should kill him. That's bad.
With all of this going on, I don't remember why I agreed with Markus. Sorry Markus. Maybe next time!!

Selena, the thing with Harry potter was ingenious. Before I even read what this blog was going to be about, I wanted to incorperate HP into it. lol and I was going to say in the seventh book but I'm not going to mention anything because I don't want to spoil it. I know some people have not gotten around to reading it yet so I'll just leave it as that.

I also like Bunting's idea about the chip. It's interesting lol and might actually work. Is the government allowed to put a chip inside someone legally??

So... I was thinking about this time I spoke with a cop. No, I was not in trouble (at least not this time lol jk) but somehow we got onto a subject that makes me think of justice. We were talking about how cops stereotype. They mess with they're authority and don't give equal rights. He said, if we see someone dressed in baggy clothes and just looks like a troublemaker--we will write them a ticket. So this was weird and got me thinking. I mean... like it really bugged me and I don't know why. Maybe its because if the world knew that, more people would get off the hook. So like basically he was saying that if you are either dressed nicely and professionally, they usually let them off the hook. So what if a bad person dresses nicely and professionally. Do they still get off the hook? Justice is not being fair right then. I have also heard stories when professionals get out of a ticket. This one dentist guy was wearing his --not uniform but you know the word...anyway...his (insert word i can't think of here) had his name on it and DDS. He was speeding but only left with a warning. The Police officer automatically assumed he was going to work (which he was) and told him just be careful not to speed. See I think that's cheap. Not fair one bit.

Michelle, You bring up a very good point with stereotypes in cops. I didn't think about that, though it does happen everyday. Also, the police are more likely to check an African-American person with the Breathalyzer, even if he is not drunk. It's suprising to think about that because the poice are supposed to be the unbiased citizens that deal justice. It really makes you think about how our legal system is set up.
I still think putting people to rot in jail is inhumane. If a mass murderer killed 6 innocent people, you are going to let him live? Whatever, I'm only going to bring this up again if someone actually agrees with me for once...

Dang you guys must have been sitting at your computers all night. Well the contest is not JUSTIFIED because i was in the middle of the woods at 4. By the way i can describe the campout in one word COLD!!!!!!!! The worst part is i forgot my sleeping bag. I was wearing every article of clothing i had and was still cold. The worst part was getting up at the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

Haha... that makes me laugh because I can relate. You see ever since first grade I've had to go door to door selling whatever my brothers or sisters needed for girl scouts, swimming, blah blah blah. Anyways it always annoyed me because I had to go everytime and half the time it didn't help me in anyway. I blew up at my dad in fourth grade, screaming that I hated walking for two hours and all that horrible stuff that goes with it. His response was that:
One: People will lean towards buying from girls.

And Two: I was the youngest, thus I had the cutest face and people won't close their doors on us.

I found this unjust at the time, I really just wanted to change everyone's opinion. Now that I look back on it, it's really true. Would you buy candy from a little sweet girl or a gangly tall male?

About the post. I feel that there are many injustices. the conteset against me for example. Another example is because of taz breaks some employes get fired.Then one of them can't get enough money to keep his wife in a nursing home where she is suffering from alzhiemers(i probably mispelled that) Anyway rhat was in a tv show and i thought it was unfair. Also in Markus's mom's story, the vet just gets a fine and a letter of repremand. Where the justice in that? This is Ryan Perkins, CNN, signing of.

I have heard what you posted being said before. And I mean its completely true. Sometimes, people feel worse saying no to either girls or kids. Even if its a good cause. That part kind of bugs me. My friend and I decided to have a Kool-aid stand to raise money for Hurricane Katrina. We didn't get nearly as much money as we hope to donate but it's still better than nothing. We even provided entertainment!!!!! Most of our sales went to my friends brother so we had to sell it to them for a dime. We didn't make a lot of money selling it, even though it was a warm day and the ice cold Kool-aid tasted soooo good. I mean at least watch the entertainment! Don't flick us off!! Ya, we actually got flicked off a couple times. hahah anyway
Another time where kids sell more is in Lemonade. My cousins have a couple lemonade stands each year during the summer. I always help them They get a lot of business because how cute they are. I am mainly there to make the lemonade and control the money. ha. Kids get the fun job. They got so much more money than me and my friend did selling Kool-aid its not even funny!

There definitly is a thing called justice. As Selena said, justice is often used in court cases to help people in their situations. It can help people or hurt them, just as Selena had said. When looking at a person, you cannot tell if they have justice inside of them. You must search inside the person and discover it within them. Justice is blind. From looking at someone you cannot tell whether they are justice or not. If I were to discribe justice as a person, I would say that they are unbiased, and normal bot really having a set identity. I like the color thing that Selena had said. Justice is like the color white, pure and kind of outspoken for. There is no set identity of how it should be.

Wow Mrs. P, I thought that you would have picked something that I couldn't complain about, or relate to politics. This country's justice system is fatelly flawed. On paper the system looks great but in practice it is a dismall failure. One of the biggest problems is that very often you have hardcore liberal activist judges. They very often have a case before them when the defendent is very guilty of some horrible crime. And the crimanal gets a few years then they get out and they are back on the street killing people. This happens becouse the judges want to give them a second chance. After you kill someone in cold blood you don't deserve a second chance. On the flip side of that these very same judges will sentance someone to life in prison, if someone has too shoot someone in self defence.

Another problem in are legal system is for cases to be thrown out over little techincal things. This is the reason why Millhouses (one of my nicknames for Obama) friends Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dourn are still free. They even adimit to killing people and they are free and are even teachers. That is truly outragous. One quate from Ayers is "Guilty as ...., free as a bird, what a great country."

Another issue is all of the frivalous lawsuits that are going on. This includes suits against doctors who did nothing wrong. Just so these people can make a quick buck. In many counrtys this is illegal but not in the USA.

Another issue is the mentallity of the supreme court. They think that they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. There job is too interpt the constitiun. They now think that they can shape the world. That is not there job. The problem is that Obama will apoint more of these liberal judges that destroy our great country.

Another problem I have with the justice system is the way terrorist are treated. The system in place for caputered oppents under the Geneva convention is fine. The problem is that the Geneva convetion does not aply to terrorists. Obama and his liberal friends want to make them treated like US citizens. Currently they are held in Guantonomo Bay. That is a prison in Cuba that is operated by the Navy. I will refer too it as Club Gitmo. The prisoners that are held there are very dangoures and becouse they are on military property and are held to military law. This is why Club Gitmo works so well and no one has ever escaped. This way they can not threaten the United States again and these people will stay imprisond. If they came to the US. they would be tried in a civilian court. The cases would have to be thrown out becouse most of the time the terrosist werent read there Miranda Rights ("you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney.etc.)So after they are cleared of all charges they have the right to stay in the US and be citizens. So we could have some of the masterminds behind 9/11 walking our streets. That is not a comforting thought.

My final point has to do with the death penalty. I remarkabley do think that the death penalty should be abolished. Just not for the same reason as all of the other people. I think it should be abolished so the people that commited these horrible crimes, stay in jail. I think that the thought of being stuck for years with no oppurtunity of perol, is worss then death.

Kevin, i agree with you, for once, about the death penalty. It's just like in the james bond movies. The thing that gets me is when he has a gun amied at the villian, and the villian says,"you won't kill me." I just hate that, i mean he does kill them but what did it prove? The dead person will never regret anything at all. Some people comit crimes just so they die without suicide. I think there is no place in the world for those people. This is Ryan Perkins, CNN news.

Why doesn't anyone believe in the death penalty! Think about this, who pays to create more jails? Who pays to send people to jail? Us! The consumers and tax payers(parents). Why should we pay taxes to make more jails, when we could just humanely end their life using an injection? I guess I lied because I said I wouldn't argue this anymore. Someone HAS to agree with me...

well maybe that someone hasn't posted yet but think about this, if their dead are they going to feel sorry, are they going to be able to told their forgivin, no they will never get that chance. Besides if it turns out someone's innocent they let them out of jail. but if they executed a innocent person what are thay suposed to say? "Whoops my bad." For some strange reason i don't think that will cut it.

Good Job perkins. I agree with you. And to add onto that will a person who committed a terrible crime care if they are killed??? NO they wont. If you let them sit and ro in a jail for the rest of their life, than they will think about what they have done and might drive themselve crazy with guilt and kill themselves. There that would solve both problems.

Anyways, isn't Judge Judy and all thems just fake? I thought it was just actors and not real court cases. I know a few are real but most of them aren't. Also when people usally go to court it isn't a judge that decides the fate it's the jury so you really do have a sort of fair trail... I wonder though how many cases would be different if the jury was blindfolded...

In response Perkins, I did not stay up waiting for the post, I really came home from swim pratice and was excited to see who got first. :P It's really hard to type with gloves on! XD

So again with the death penalty... Dr. Markus...you are wrong. HA. Like seriously if I was a mass murderer, who cares if you end my life?!?!?! I would much rather be sitting in my house knowing that a mass murderer is going insane in a little cell. Eventually, the guilt will get to them one way or another...thus making them more insane!! The jail would straighten them out. And Markus, if you enjoy the torture methods, putting them in a cell would be more torturous!!!Think about it if it happened to your family. Would you rather the murderer die a quick painless death and know he won't care one bit that he died or know he is stuck in a jail forever that he cannot get out of. Forever??!!?!?

Students! If someone kills my husband or one of my children, I would NOT be happy to see them in jail --- and have to pay for their food, shelter, satellite tv, newspapers and recreational activities. And any of you who think that a killer will feel guilty or tortured in jail... if someone could kill in the first place, I do not believe they possess those feelings. (I am of course speaking of the most hardened criminals) Also, I still haven't heard a good argument against the dealth penalty... the Bible does say "an eye for an eye"... That's just my two cents... dr.mrs.b

There is lots of justice around us where every we look.

I hear many stories about how someone was sentenced many years ago for a crime they were accused of doing. Years latter, with better technology, they find out that the person was actually innocent and someone else was guilty. People get judged for things they didn't do, but sometimes people are judged and justified for things they did do. That is what justice should be. We should make sure we sentence the right person first before we accuse people.

Another thing about the death penalty--Let's say you go into a trial and you are innocent--but the jury finds you guilty. You then get sentenced to death. They inject you and you die. That's not justice to me. I mean I understand that it would be hard seeing the murderer of your family in jail having to pay for them to live but like what if the wrong person was found guilty?

What ever statue you looking at is the wrong one. What the heck does a woman holding a scale with a blindfold on have to do with justice. Why can't justice just be a guy. You're getting wierder every day. You unjust teacher.

I think that justice is almost always served. Especialy in all those shoot 'em up movies. The person that does something bad always ends up dead at the end. That's how they get their big helping of a tablespoon of justice and about 9mm of lead.

But justice isn't always served.
Some times the person who does the bad thing doesn't always get punished. Just like when America nuked Japan. In that case the blindfold might have had holes in it. Bombing a bad thing to do. It was an abuse of power.

Q: Is there a such thing as justice?

A: NO. NO. NO. There is no such thing as justice. Anyone could see this by watching Judge Judy on TV. The whole case rests in her her hands. There isn't even a jury there. It's all up to her. She might not even be doing what is right. She might be saying things that people watching want to hear. I thing that all these Judging shows should be taken off TV. It is not right. The televised cases are often ones that people don't care about, but it matters to the people that are involved. It is not fair at all.

Thanks for paying attention to my blog. In has been an emotional journey for everyone involved. It brings tears to my eyes when people listen to me like this. I just get all warm and fuzzy inside. It makes me feel like someone cares.

CONCLUSION:
As I has stated before in my post, ther is no such thing and never will be a such thing as Justice.

Justice

Justice can come in many forms, but i think that there are too many rules that have corrupted it. I think that each situation should be judged based on the situation. I think that there is such a thing as justice and that its sovereignty will not be denied.

Yes; She is blind to what is going on and makes a bad choice! haha!

I think that there is such a thing a justice and justice can be blind. I think that justice really depends on your definition. For me, justice is being able to find out the truth about something, getting to the bottom of it, to spread the true facts and to punish the guilty so they can learn their lesson. There are some people whose definition of justice is mixed with revenge.I think that justice can be blind because for example, in the book, The Outsiders, the book is written from a Greasers point of view. Most people, when they think of greasers, they think of gangs, bad boys, punks, the poor and desperate. The other group is the Socs who are the rich, upper class, who look and dress more like good kids. When Johnny ended up killing a Soc who attacked Johnny and his friend, Ponyboy, it probably wouldn't look so good in court. It wouldn't look good because Johnny, a poor, bad boy looking punk is up against, a rich, upper class kid, who dresses like a good boy. Chances are that Johnny would lose against the Soc. Justice is blind here because the jury would most likely be looking at the way that they dress. The fact that Johnny is a greaser will also make the jury lean toward the Soc because greasers are poor which make them look desperate enough to steal and lie. Justice also turns a blind eye here because Socs are the ones who usually start a fight and they were the ones who attacked Johnny and Ponyboy first. If Johnny or Ponyboy told a jury this they would think that Ponyboy and Johnny were lying since they're greasers.

The death penalty, There is a part of me that says it is wrong. However, there is a part of me that says it is okay. I do not know how I would feel if it was me or one of my children who were sentences to death. I do feel, that often times justice becomes an emotional response to a physical action.

I believe that justice never existed. There is no way to be exactly fair. For example Snape in the Harry Potter series. People hated him just because he was at the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time. At the end, it turns out that he was the best of the the best and he meets a terrible end. Another example of the flipside is count olaf in the series of unfortuanate events. He always seems to be the perfect guardian for violet, klaus and sunny, but when no one is watching he is the last person you would ever want to take care of children. We try to serve justice, but everytime there is always some prejudice. It is impossible to be fair. There is never going to be a person who doesnt get on your nerves. i think that justice never and will never exsist.

Wow I actually forgot a point. That is a new one.With the death penalty, I forgot too add one other reason I am against it is becouse it is more of a punishment too the family then the person who did it. I don't think it would hurt the family as much if it was a life sentance instead.

Listen to me, I am not talking about killing any old person who commits a crime. I only want to use the death penalty on someone who has a very seirous charge and is in some ways conisdered psycho. Honestly, if my mother was that insane that she would have earned the death penalty, she probably deserved it. People who are on Death Row really are so insane that they don't care what happens to himself/herself anymore. If someone feels fufilled after what they had done, like a severe manslaughter, they just take up space in jail.
Sorry Mrs. P, I guess I was part of the problem this time...

two things. one i agree with Kevin. The death penalty does hurt the family more than the crimanal. Second, how can tou agree with markus on this? The people it is issued to know that they are going to get it. if you comit a crime bad enough to earn the unspeakable punishment, you HAVE to know you might die. Many people still do it and don't care about their death. Then it hurts the family. Why do that? Lets foil their plans for death and give them a life sentence. plus the world has had enough death.9-11, the holocost, all the wars,Hurricane Katrina, all of these were reported terrible due to the death toll. These people had no chance to live, yet you want to kill people who have a chance to live? I have joked around onthis thing before but now i am 100% serious. Wow this is the first time that I have read other peoples blogs. I feel that I have been left out.Anyway,I think that justice isn't only able to see, but she has 20/20 vision. Justice is obviously tilted toward the higher class, rich, and innocent looking. Judges can be payed off, false witnesses can be brought up, and evidence can be tampered with. I don't think at all that America's justice system is bad, it's brilliant. It's just that it relies on the dependability of people, And that is just about zilch. I agree with Markus and Jenna in saying that the death penalty is a good idea. It is incredibly humane in that it is like falling asleep, and otherwise they would have to deal with the maddening monotony of a jail cell and jail life. I also can see that it might be a bad idea because some people can still turn their lives around, even if they don't get out of jail, and die happier, and maybe repentful of the things that they did. They also might end up in a better place when their time comes.

I forgot another good point. One thing that almost no one knows is that The legistlative branch is also judicial. There is a little thing called congressional hearings. And they are basically legel slaughters. Most of you rember Enron. If you don't it was a big company that lied about profits so the CEOs made a little extra cash. They also lied to the people that invested into the company to make extra money. Well there were hearings and the CEOs were destroyed. I am not saying what they were doing not is wrong but that is a judicial not legistlative issue. And the kicker is that now with all of the company's being bailed out. The two that started this whole mess where, Fanny May and Freddie Mac. What most people don't know is they are goverment groups, (which is actually illegal, but who in the justice department cares about the constitiun any more?) They are the ones who gave out loans too people they knew couldn't afford it. They are the ones who started all of this. And do you think there CEOs are being audited, investigated, sued, or being summened for hearings. What do you think? The answer is no. They have there golden parachutes and they are fine. Do you want to know why? Well they have some friends in congress. Guess who the top two senators that got money from Fannie and Freddie, You guessed it Chriss Dodd (his commitee oversees the way the goverment spends money) and the Messiah Barrack Hussien Obama (and rember he barely even was in the senate and he still got so much cash) And guess who else was getting money, Chairman Bernaky who is the head of the Federal Reserve. And daffy duck, also known as Barney Frank (Chriss Dodds counterpart in the house). All four of these people plus those CEOs should be put under oath and explain why they destroyed the economy. (and isn't it convient this happend right before the election?)Oh I forgot too mention all of these people plus Henry Pualson (Secratary of the Treasury) are Demacrats.

I don't think there is such thing as justice. People are always bisased when they are making a decision. There are ofen situations when just because of there race, age, or religion your accused of something you never did. That is unjustice. People are always going to have different opinions and aguments about a subject, i believe there is never a wrong answer as long as you have facts to back is up.

Sometimes, I will be watching the news, and a story is told about how someone was released from jail today because they found they didn't commit the crime, they were accused of. When they get out of jail, they end up sueing the government, for false accusations. I would also have to agree with Selena, white symbolizes justice. White is angelic, everyone wants to be pure, innocent, etc, but in reality we can't always be this way. I believe that justice is blind, you have to earn it, you have to prove yourself.

I think justice can be unfair. We will take a fat person for expamle, the scale may be tipped for him, NOT ONLY BECAUSE HE IS FAT. For example, if someone leaves the lunch table, and comes back with his food missing, They are probably going to blame the fatest kid at the table, no lie. Also, fat people are disrespected. For example, my Ex hated fat people, and so does my friend. They are ununderstood, if you know what I mean. Well, accually it is thier fault they are fat. They just decided to eat too much everytime they ate, but thats not the point. Sure, that metaphor you made might not have been the best way to put it but your right.

Now there is another urgent issue about on the DEATH PENALTY. I think that it should be BANISHED! I'm sorry Markus but you have been APOSED! (I think thats how you spelled it) I do think every criminal should go to jail if found guilty, but what if they had to die and they were innocent, I mean that would just suck. Many of the innocent have died, And I must say, only the good die young. Every single one of them. Here I have a list: Buddy Holley, Kody Salsman, That one announcer guy, Paul McCartney, You name it, if their good, then their as good as dead. Not today, not next year, just sometime. (I know that "sometime" isn't young, but It doesn't matter any more.

I definitely agree with Kirsti. Whether people know it or not, they always judge people. As an example, people say they feel bad for poor people and they will always be knd to them, but if a poor person sat next to you in the movies, you wouldn't exactly introduce yourself. Most people would probably change seats. People are never aware that they are judging others, it's just human nature. I don't think justice is blind at all. I once heard a story about a man who was released from from jail after three years after new evidence suggested he was innocent. I think it is also people who help lift the blindfold. People who don't "rat out" their friends are helping innoceent people be punished. To sum it up, justice isn't blind, and I don't think it ever will be.

in my opinion, justice is blind.i think that it does exist, but mostly only to the white/wealthy men. define justice: judgment involved in the determination of rights and the assignment of rewards and punishments(Google)In some of the books i read in previous years have showed injustice. In To Kill A Mockingbird, tom (African American found guilty)was really innocent, but was ruled against because of his color.although that was about 50 years ago, the court system hasnt changed much.it seems that justice is given to those who "deserve" it like the old white gov men or celebrities. overall, justice is stereotyping.

Let me start by saying I am for the death penalty. LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY. The death penalty is used to remove people from the population who could proved they harmed society. If a person like that escaped from jail, they could harm the population even more. that's why if you let a potentially dangerous be kept alive, its so dangerous. Now what do you think is worse, having a cold blooded killer walking the streets, or you not worrying about it because they're dead? And besides, some killers are of such unsound mind who knows if they even care of pain? The death penalty to me protects society, and is very important

Justice to me is blind. we try to see where justice should be and where we have to put it. the women in the model ou expained is the symbol because she binede by all the distractons in the world aneeds to find her balance betwen life and everything else in the world. a story about justive that I have read is Hero. this book shows that justice is always go and always bad. you have to decide weather it will be good or bad for you. if you choose good ten yu are off to a good start. we define justice as being following the rules and doing what we ar supposed to. this to me is justice and is the way mot interpret it. in Hero, a teeneage delinquete is put in a situation where he must know what is right and wrong. (ps. you should read this book :]) anyways, in tis situuation he has to make choices that are either justificational or ujust.

I believe that there is such a thing as justice, but it is not always fair. I believe that a persons race plays a big role in the justice that is given to them. For example, if an african american man fires a gun, he will go to court. He will say that firing the gun was an accident and he is sorry for causing panic for others around him. Say he gets a $500 fine. Now a white man in the same exact situation might get a $250 fine. I believe that because I read an article in a news paper of how a white man who was a public official, was caught doing drugs. He kept his position, and was only charged a small fine, even though he has been caught numerous times. A black woman was caught with the same thing, and she was sen to jail for a few months. Justice is not always fair.

First thing that comes to mind about this topic is court cases.
I've watched Animal Cops on Animal Planet several times, and seen the court cases.
Sometimes they are sent to jail, other times they're let off with a warning, and even some of them are sent away like nothing happened because of lack of evidence. Those people that are sent away because of lack of evidence are usually criminals that were hiding everything up pretty good.

There really is no thing as justice. Just whenever you think you got something, it's gone.
And ever notice how the person to blame is the one that is completely innocent? Seems to happen to me a lot.

I think there is a such thing as justice but that its never perfect. While most of the time it is in the right, sometimes it's in the wrong and thats when everone decides to pay attention to it. thats why some people dont believe in justice. In many things such as movies or anything with a story, the bad guy usually gets away with things he shouldnt but ends up being taken down by justice.

I feel that justice isnt blind, that most of the time, there is no such thing as justice. I think as mentioned, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the best examples. The black person was found guilty, even though it was very clear throughout the trial that he was innocent. It's sort of like what we talked about in class today, about equality; people will always be biased.I've also seen many court cases that were unfairly ruled in favor of one side. In Court cases, the verdict is found when we interpret the constitution. When interpreting, we are putting our own opinions, thoughts on what things mean. I think all of this is biased, but i also think that is what makes us human.

Whenever i hear the word justice i think back to old comic books where the superhero just caught the villian and put them in jail. then the super hero says something along the lines of "justice has been served." everytime i hear this quote it just makes me realizwe how unture this statment is in real life.

i see many of examples of this.
One is when celeberties get accussed of a crime and they have to go infront of the court. compared to a normal everyday citizen celeberties seem to get a less harsh sentence or not one at all. i dont see any justice in this at all and i dont see it exsiting in our world.

so, i looked up justice online, just to see what the definition was. i suppose its like fairness. if everything was fair, then everyone would be equal. there wouldnt be racism, or sexism, or any other kind of oppression of people who are different in any way. especially in court cases, which there still is sometimes. i think that there is such a thing as justice, but its not always used. like if there's a court case between a white person and a black person, justice might lift up her blindfold, see the white skin, and declare them not guilty. there are all kinds of songs about justice, like i was listening to the song Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen, and he talks about killing people then being sentenced to death. that was a case of justice, and it getting served when a person deserved it. "They declared me unfit to live said into that great void my soul'd be hurled". that goes with the death penalty, and he is saying that they thought he shouldnt live because he didnt deserve to.

i think that justice has alot to do with judging people. you cant just look at a person and see the justice in them, but yet we do. we see the clothes they wear, and who they hangout with and we judge them based on that, and treat them badly because we think their "injust." i think justice is blind for the same reason, we are so quick to judge people, wheather we think were doing it or not, but skimming the surface is completely different then looking inside someone. justice has nothing to do with who your friends are, what parties you go to, or what clothes they wear,but thats what we make it out to be. i hope that people would realize the true meaning of justice,and look for it INside of a person, instead of on the outside.
