Being an Original

You will all be embarking on the greatest journey in about a month.  High school will be over and you will have many paths to choose from.  Some of you have already accepted that your life is your own and that you make choices everyday that will propel you forward.  Others may blame everyone else for your life and the choices you make. What we do not see is that the world requires us to think.  There will be no multiple choice test for you to fill out at work or before you buy a home.  You will have to think.  Be an original in all aspects of your life.  I want you to watch this TED Talk and tell me how it applies to you.  Are you a pre-crastinator, a procrastinator, or an original?  Does he say anything in this talk that you can take with you as you prepare to head down your next road?

I am a pre-crastinator because I feel like I always have to have things done right when I find out about it. For example, when I get a homework assignment that is due in a week, I'll go home and do it that night. I don't know whether it's an anxiety thing or not, but that happens with everything. If I know I need to do something for work, I'll do it as soon as possible. When he says to not worry about things that you have time to prepare for, I think it will help for my college assignments.

I am a procrastinator due to getting an assignment and always pushing it to the last minute. I'll get a homework assignment and wait till its 10:00 at night to do it, or If Im giving a project thats due in 2 weeks ill usually do it the night before. When the phrase that is used is to not worry I think it helps because I have no need to worry about the ways I push things till the last minute because I have time to prepare myself for college and change my ways on using time wisely.

I am a procrastinator because while I have almost no free time after school due to sports and commitments I still choose to not do my homework until around 12 at night if I do it in the first place. My work ethic is abmissmal but when I need to finish something I can power through. When he says to not worry about things I feel like this will help me in the future because I do stress over large assignments and I should prepare for them instead of jumping into them blind and with no sense of direction.

I am a pre-crastinator. When I am given an assignment I have to do it right away. I feel if I let it go closer to the due date, it will never get done. I would start to stress over it. In general if I am given something to do, I feel as though I need to do it right away so I know it is done. I like when he says to not worry about things and that you have time. I worry about stuff all the time and I just need to take a step back and realize that I do have time to get stuff done. I feel rushed sometimes, but really I have time. This will help me in college to make sure I do not stress over assignments and life and to just live in the moment and know I have time to accomplish things.

Although I am not attending college next year this would greatly help me in the job I have and in future events of my life. I am someone who can be a procrastinator or a pre-crastinator. When I am at work or doing daily activities I am a pre-crastinator. I always feel the need to be working extremely hard. When I get asked to do a task I do it immediately. I even will work harder than I probably should. I also worry all the time about how fast I should be getting work done when I already know I have tons of time to do it. When Grant speaks about us having time, its true. I understand that the harder i stress over time, I am causing myself to not enjoy my work, but only focus on how quick I could get it done. I will use Grants speech to help me enjoy myself and the tasks i will get in the future. Understand that there is time and it is okay to do a task and relax.

I am a pre-crastinator. Whenever I am given an assignment, essay, or project I HAVE to list my thoughts and ideas otherwise I become very unorganized and distracted. I get distracted very easily and if my ideas are not in a certain manner I get very confused and mess everything up. The way I look at it, is why wait to do something when it could be done right away and the stress is taken off of you. I think this will help me for college so I can organize my ideas in each class and stay organized and have everything turned in on time.

I am a procrastinator because I always push everything to the last minute to finish it, unless it is something that interests me. Most of the projects I am given I push to the day before or the day of that they are due to finish them. Most of my teachers let me turn in things late anyways so it makes me feel like I have more time to do them. I think that I should try to improve this before college though so I can get things done faster and be more prepared and focused.

For certain things I am a procrastinator but for others, I am a pre-crastinator. When it comes to projects or important papers and such, then I like to work on those and get them done as soon as I can because it is just one less thing that I will have to worry about. Home work on the other hand and smaller tasks, I tend to push off as long as I can. I think that as I go into college I will try and be more organized and get my tasks done as soon as I can, because college is much more challenging than High School, so I have to start and prepare myself for what is coming.

I know that I am a huge procrastinator, but after watching the TED Talk, I have realized it is not always a bad thing to wait until a few days before, or even hours before something it due. Sometimes I will have an idea right away and then hold off the idea until it is closer to the times it is due, and others time it will take awhile to come up with an idea. I see myself as a procrastinator because in a way, I have seen myself think more about my ideas and my creativity. I never looked at my procrastination in this way before, it has always been stressful for me and I could never think that my procrastination is good, I thought it was a bad habit. That could be part of it, but looking back and I can see where ideas grew with the task that had to be done. I have learned that it is okay to wait and think about concepts thoroughly before completing the final project, because it can lead to a successful project.

I am a procrastinator I procrastinate all the time. I procrastinate with homework, and projects. Sometimes it can be a bad things, but I don't think it is always a bad thing to procrastinate. When he says to not worry and theres time it makes me not feel so stressed out about my procrastination. This will help me in college because it helps me know that I do have time to get my work done, and I'll have t learn what works best for me.

I would think of myself as a procrastinator. When something is due in a week i wait to the last day or so to do it and it can be good or bad. Good that it helps me due other things and keeps my mind off of it to think of new ideas but can be bad because it can be stressful. Ted talks talked about how thiis helped inventors and succesful people think of new ideas and i think it will help me though my life.

I would think of myself as a pre-crastinator. With work and volleyball I try my best to get everything done early that way I do not have to worry about it late at night or at the last minute. When I get an assignment thats due in a week I try and get it done that night that way I do not have a ton of homework piling on top at once. When they say don't worry about it you have time, that stresses me out more because I always feel like I should already have it done. I like to get things done early that way I do not have to wait until the last minute and become stressed about it.

I would say that sometimes I am a procrastinator.. I mean who isn't? Sometimes you want to do other things and have fun which is fine, but you need to know when enough is enough so you can balance what actually needs to get done. Big tasks are not worth pushing till the last moment. If you care about it, you most likely wont procrastinate. If you are procrastinating.. then it's probably over something you don't want to do. Its all about having the right mindset to achieve what you want to accomplish. You can call yourself whatever you want. There is no category.

I feel that I am a procrastinator. After watching the video I feel that I will become more aware of the effort that I put into everything I do. It also showed me that the more I think and try when dealing with a task the more original it will become. In the future I will practice putting more effort into everything in order to become a more original person overall.

Oh I'm definitely a procrastinator, but I also find I have the ability to be an original. I liked what he said about taking someone else's idea and improving upon it. It's all fine and dandy to come up with this amazing new idea that will revolutionize the world but if you can look at an idea, see what needs to be improved, and fix it the world will wind up better off. It's kind of like a person who always looks at the glass as half full. It takes a special kind of person to look at the world as it could be and these are the people who will revolutionize it. I certainly believe I am one of these people.

I would most definitely say that I am an original. I am not one to jump on my work and finish it right away. In almost every instance in my life, school wise and job wise, I will start my task and leave it. I don't leave it because I am lazy, like in the video, I think. I sit on the topic and I problem solve in order to make it the best I possibly can. I am someone who takes their time but with just enough time to spare before being considered a procrastinator. When the speaker brings up that "originals" aren't afraid to doubt, it really connects with me. I am not afraid to take my ideas and run with them. I full heartily believe that when you have an idea you need to act on it and stand for what you believe it. It is important to question the things around you and speak up wether you are actually right or not. With that, I think being an original is going to help me. Although there is that slight sense of procrastination, I do get my work done, and when it is done it is more than likely done with quality. My work ethic is very thoughtful and creative and with that I feel like that will benefit me in the future.

I am defiantly a procrastinator. Everyday I get Hassled by my parents to fill out scholarships but ill wait to the last minute to do that. The way I think about it is my final days of high school are here and im trying to enjoy them insted of stressing out

I find that I am a procrastinator most of the time. It's such a bad habit of mine to wait until the last minute to do certain things like homework or studying. I've noticed that I am always rushing to do things right before they're due, which is horrible. When Grant talks to the audience about how you should not worry about things you have time to prepare for, I am able to step back and think about how, soon, I'll be in college and this will help out because I know you have to cram a lot of work and projects into your schedule and Grant saying this is good advice and can guide a lot of people I believe.

I'm definitely a procrastinator, but not all the time. I always develop a plan to do something but I often get side tracked very easy and completely do something else. I have always hated that part about myself, I either seem too forget and just put things off for myself. After watching Ted talks, I realize that it's not entirely a bad thing to do. But I want to improve, TED talks gave many ways to improve. It centers around realizing your ideas and improving them. Ideas come and go, but the ones that become something by improvement. If you can dream it you can achieve it, just hump right into it. I think what sets me back is fear, fear of failing and TED talks says the only way to achieve your goals is by getting rid of fear. People who have succeeded in this society, weren't afraid to fail and they learned from failure and turned it into something great.

I am a pre-crastinator as whenever I have something important that needs to be done, I make sure I do it in a timely fashion. Whenever assignments for school are due I make sure to get them done when I get home from work or before I go if I have time. I feel that if I am able to keep doing things in a timely manner then it will benefit me when I go to college.

I view myself as a Procrastinator who has the potential to be an Original. I don't jump in and start on my work right away. I can't. I look at a blank canvas and say 'So, what?' I have to put it aside, look around a bit at the world before I jump in. And sometimes my 'sitting and looking at the world' takes too long. It becomes Sunday night at 11pm when I finally get to writing my blog. It gets to 2nd period the day of a test when I am filling in my quotes bank. I understand the Original's thought-process and try to replicate it. In the end, though, I usually end up modifying the Precrastinator's and the Original's ideas. I always finish, finding it impossible to leave a project unfinished, unattended to. At times, I have that potential to be an Original, and am so close, but put it off a bit too long and end up losing the ability to produce the creative ideas I could simply because of time.

I couldnt watch the video so I dont really know what he said. But I am more of a precrastinator. I hate having to do something last minute. But if it is something unimportant I am a procrastinator. So I guess what determines if I am a precrastinator or a procrastinator is how seriously i am taking the task.

I can, without a doubt, say that I am a procrastinator. I know this to be true, because whenever I know I have something to do, i'm always finding an excuse not to do it. That's not always my intention going into it, I try to make myself a list or a set of goals to accomplish but I never seem to follow through. It's defiantly something i've been working harder on lately to try and stop or at least fix a bit more. I'm also a bit forgetful when it comes to completing tasks that need to actually get done and become resolved. I think this TED talk has given me a bit more options and opened some new ideas into place that I can use to help try and become better at accomplishing my goals by, such as the idea that if i truly want something as badly as I do, I will take the time to put in the effort and work to get to where I want to be or what I would like to do in order to get there. I know that nothing good has really ever come to me when I avoid or sway away from the inevitable of what needs to get done, and I know because of who I am as a person, that when I take the time to put in the effort and get an outcome, I really enjoy the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction in knowing that I set myself in the right direction to get this response and it should be a habit and ritual to do all the time.

As for school, depending on the assignment I am a procrastinator. If I am given an assignment in school in class then i am more likely to finish it, but once i get home I procrastinate finishing it. Being a procrastinator also messes with my time management and I have been trying to change that with a goal. That goal being that I fix my schedule with my time and procrastination to be prepared for college when school gets to be harder and more work. Now that I have a job, it has taught me responsibility but it can be hard with school once in a while. I think this TED talk helped me understand that there are other ways that I could change the ways i do things and having other options. In the future i would like to become successful. I believe that this TED gave me a good insight on being a procrastinator.

I am a procrastinator. Last week I filled out 10 scholarships the day before they were due and I started at 8:30 pm. I always wait until the last minute to do all my work and I always regret it when I am exhausted the next day. I always seemed to do better on my complicated homework if I start it late at night. My mind works best during the night.I need to find the sweet spot to achieve the highest creativity. Sometimes I feel as if I waited too long to do something. Also, I cannot be afraid to fail. The most successful people of all time were not afraid to fail and this is what led them to be so extraordinary.

As for school I am a procrastinator as my blog is my example. I want to do it early but always end up compiling everything at the end. Being a procrastinator is not a good habit. My main goal is to fix my procrastination for college. I want to be able to get everything done on time in college. I think this ted talk helped me understand that their are certain ways to do things and some things you cant just go around. I want to be successful in life and i Think this ted talk helped me figure out my plans on becoming successful .

I am a huge procrastinator, not only can I find ways to push things back or not do things but make myself feel like I made the right decision, however I have found that some of my best essays were written in an hour or two the night before they were do. I think its a lot about the mind set. I can't really say whether I'm an original or not because I really haven't done anything that extraordinary, but I would like to think I'm very creative. The whole talk gave me some insight as to how procrastinators like me find their creativity. Take the research paper that we had to do for example. I honestly came up with some of my greatest thoughts when I was sitting their on my phone or something not working when everyone else was, and then I used that idea later. I think only time will tell if I will be an original.

I'm a procrastinator. I make huge plans to do things and set myself up for them but once it comes time to actually follow through I wait and wait until the absolute last minute. This results in me stressing out and rushing through assignments and tasks I must do, and I dont put my all into things. I'm neither of the other two things, but am strongly a procrastinator. An example of this is this blog. I reminded myself all day to do it, had plans for what time I would write it, but when I got home I told myself I would do it before midnight, which didn't happen because sleep took over. This TED talk though, helped me to see that there are ways I can fix this.

I am hands down a procrastinator. When i am given an assignment, i will think and plan out that i will get it done right away. Most of the time though this does not happen. With so many other things going on, i then forget what was assigned but try to do it and just have it done in time and maybe go back and correct it after. Knowing that just getting it done and not putting a lot of effort into in doesn't help anyone learn, it stresses me out but i do get it done. Waiting until late at night, when i have time to do it.. That is when the procrastination begins because i have so much work crammed into such little time.

I am very much so a procrastinator and it's kind of ironic that I'm watching a Ted Talk almost 9 hours after this assignment was due, which i totally planned of course, about being a procrastinator, an original, or a precrastinator. I don't want to be a procrastinator and I think it's almost like a disease that no vaccine can save. Well- I can't say nothing can save us from procrastination besides ourselves. It's my goal to stop procrastinating and actually do something. One time I didn't procrastinate and I loved it. I loved not having to stress and everything was done and I could actually breathe. But i continue to wait and wait and wait and wait until I eventually forget and then I'm screwed.
In college I want to be an original. I want to be in charge with my own ideas and a solution to fix whatever I need to. Being an original is the ideal person we all want to be but very few can be because of this disease called procrastination. Looking through these answers, most people say they procrastinate but imagine a world without laziness. Would we have a utopia if everyone worked above and beyond to fix the ongoing problems in society or would we fall apart because everyone is trying to fix things that don't need to be fixed?
My tangent is over. I'm lazy and I don't want to be.

I am a procrastinator but I also believe that that is very common for high schoolers. Many high schoolers are taking many different classes with loads of work and homework that comes from it. I would rather take my dog for a walk instead of do my homework and that is what makes me a procrastinator because I do what I want to do first, and then the more important things after. This TED talk, made me realize that there are ways to better manage my time and not procrastinate so much.
